Hi guys. I need to replace my t420's battery. Can somebody please recommend good sellers/chink batteries on ebay/aliexpress/etc. ? I am afraid that I'll end up with some soykaf-tier one if I'll pick battery on my own.

If anyone got any questions related to eGPUs then you got 30 minutes before I go to sleep.

if i find my t420's 'mouse buttons' (what are they actually called?) a little too stiff/unresponsive, is there anything i can do?
>>
>>61612208
replace keyboard/palmrest, depending n which "mouse buttons" you're talking about.
Everything wears over time. If cleaning up doesn't work then replacement is the only option
>>
>>61612236
cheers, i'll put my faith on it wearing in however long
>>
Which 16 Gb ram kit supports the X220?

I'm looking for an upgrade.
>>
>>61612393
without modded bios it supports up to 1333MT/s DDR3/DDR3L memory.
With modded bios it's up to 1866MT/s.
Any. Get the cheapest you can find, as your iGPU is too shitty to benefit from higher speeds anyway. 1600MT/s should be the cheapest one.

has anyone gotten their T520's bluetooth working in windows 10?

Got my T400 today. Should I install Windows 7, 8.1, or 10?

Where do you go to buy replacement screens?
I'd prefer not to buy from ebay.
>>

are you sure it has bluetooth?

Feels fucking good man. I still love my X200/X220 tablet PCs, though.

Which do I pick, guys? Both at the same price, about 200$.
Is the screen on any of these better than T420's?
>>
>>61613188
yeah its got the little light for it
>>
>>61613580
doesn't mean anything, bluetooth should work out of the box in W10, put your serial number in Lenovo's site to see if it came with it, or remove the palm rest or boot up a linux live USB
>>
>>61613580
>>61613641
oh and check if it's disabled in the BIOS

So I decided to eat lunch at a nice restaurant near my office today, I'm bogged down writing this report so I decide to take my company laptop with me (T420 in mint condition).

I'm working away and enjoy my lunch when out of the corner of my eye, I see a figure walking towards my table. It's a guy wearing a fedora and a FSF t-shirt. He tries to strike up conversation about my T420, complimenting its excellent condition and 7 row keyboard.

I was so taken aback by this, I had an utterly shocked look on my face. So this is /g/ in real life. I wanted to remain incognito, so I said "It's my work computer. It's OLD".

He scrunched up his face with a look of utter disgust. I saw him walk away muttering something about "normies ruined ThinkPad, they don't know the joys of having a 7 row keyboard and a magnesium alloy rollcage..."

Decided to make a quick exit, on the way out I noticed him using a X60 with a libreboot sticker on it, running some sort of riced tiling WM with an anime wallpaper. He was arguing across the table with a Mac user. Overheard something along the lines of "Macs are locked down pieces of trash...Louis Rossman hates them"

I use Linux Mint for my X61t. Make sure to upgrade the ram and use a SSD or else the thing runs like garbage.
>>
>>61615535
device manager keeps spitting a code 10 on where its supposed to be installed, and none of the factory drivers from lenovo or broadcoms site are doing anything.

it shows up in bios/
>>
>>61615905
While its definitely a shill. Its more of an ironic shill in my eyes.
Latitudes and Elitebooks are equal and sometimes better than Thinkpads in a few generations
>>
>>61617027
I wouldn't say they are better or worse, they all have their own and different features.

And in the secondhand market it's more of a matter of what you can find for a good deal.
>>
>>61616057
I'm definitely going to be ordering an SSD soon - I dug up an old fucked up seagate drive that came with my old laptop and it's getting the job done for now.
>>
>>61616057
SSD's definitely make older thinkpads run like a charm.
>>
Which Thinkpad model does /tpg/ generally recommend?

check the faq please
>>
>>61617304
That would be useful advice if it was relevant to my question.
>>
>>61617292
I love the X200's. You can get them as cheap as $60 on ebay and also install libreboot on the BIOS.
>>
>>61617347
>tfw I bought an X200s but the chipset wasn't compatible with Libreboot
Just fuck my shit up.
>>
>>61617392
That's a bummer. Just a grab an X200, they're still pretty cheap.
>>
>>61617347
I should also clarify I meant the X200, as in plural, not X200s. I have several so I refer to them as X200's
>>
someone on letgo in my area has a z61m titanium with a dock and charger in working condition for $50 and I'm gonna buy it, it's sketch because no pictures but I can test it on site before i pony up the cash, right now I don't have a computer but an old c2d thinkpad with a dock for $50 is a god tier shitposting box

other than what i already know, what am i in for boys?
>>
>>61617492
That's crap, just get an X200/T400 for a few bucks more.

>x220
>gt 1030 fanless 30W
Or better, how much power exprescard can give?
>>
>>61617656
jesus christ why would anyone do this
>>
>>61617656
2.1 watts
You need to power it anon. Remeber that laptops are sub 100w and they use all of it, there's no wattage to spare.
Unless you got a G40 or something with the 220w power brick
>>
>tfw have nine thinkpad keyboards with the US layout because i don't use ANSI.

>>61617656
you'll need an atx psu or one of those dell chargers for the egpu adapter
>>
>>61617650
it's literally just as capable if not almost as capable + 0 shipping wait + a dock
>>
>>61613685

Are the mouse buttons on the palm rest on a T420 supposed to be slightly wiggly?
>>
>>61617718
If it's one of the higher end T7xxx cpu's it will be about 85% of the performance of an X200/T400 (which has the P8xxx cpu's). But believe me, it won't be as good, and those older T7xxx cpu's will heat up like crazy.
>>
>>61617718
Also you can get a T400 dock for $10 on ebay, so don't act like getting a dock with it is anything special.
