Any text-based browser, but you'd have to be willing to sacrifice a lot of functionality since a large part of the web is now graphically oriented.
>>
>>61610294
its good on linux but botnet10 users report high usage i suspect ms poojet shenanigans

op if you want low ram use old FF builds like 4 or something
most browsers today use webkit-like engine and shit on ram
>>
>muh ram usage
just fall for the 16 gib of ram meme
>>
>>61610271
Qupzilla is pretty low on ram, but also scraps quite a few features.

You could always use Firefox.
Then again, I switched to Chromium because Firefox regularly ate up 4GB+ of RAM due to shit memory usage. Couldn't leave it up overnight.
>>
>>61610852
let me guess you use windows
>>
>>61610863
Nope. I used to years ago.
This is on Arch Linux, which I've used for the past 2 years, but I had the exact same performance in Ubuntu, XFCE, Mint, and ElementaryOS.
And those are only the ones I can remember. I distro-hopped a few others, but didn't spend enough time to find out.

for me its 300-500mb

>>
>>61610953
No, just open a couple tabs and leave overnight.
Within 5 hours it was around 3.5 - 4 GB, and none of it would be freed until I closed every window.
With Chromium, I can at least close a tab and reduce memory usage.

These threads make me lose faith in this board.

First, RAM usage depends on how much total RAM you have and on how much applications you have running. It means nothing that Chrome is using 400 mb.

Second, the more of your RAM is used, the faster the applications are. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. Get it? MORE USED RAM = GOOD FOR YOU.

MORE RAM USED = GOOD FOR YOU.
MORE RAM USED = GOOD FOR YOU.
MORE RAM USED = GOOD FOR YOU.
MORE RAM USED = GOOD FOR YOU.

dumbfuck

>Second, the more of your RAM is used, the faster the applications are.
Lol no.
The more RAM used, the more time it takes your machine to load back applications from the on-disk swap.
Once your RAM usage nears 90%, your machine will literally freeze as Linux pushed absolutely everything it can onto the swap.

>>61610968
I don't mean the end user, but the company Mozilla. That company is completely ruined by pink haired trannies and (((feminists))).
It's better than Chrome though, because it doesn't phone home to Google.
>>
>>61611010
are you dense? more RAM available is not necessarily wasted RAM, he can mean that he want's a browser that let's him use the other x% for other applications, see? it's not about free ram, it's about having more ram available for more things, is it not obvioius dumbfuck?
>>
>>61611037
Im talking about UNUSED ram. Blank RAM.
>>
>>61611066
except the about:addons page
still better though
>>
>>61611127
Every byte of used RAM is a byte that another application can't use unless the OS pushes it to swap.
>>
>>61611119
Why doesn't he allocate the memory to the applications himself if he's smarter than his operating system?
>>
>>61611158
>Why doesn't he allocate the memory to the applications himself
Why do you think he's asking about a memory-efficient browser here?
That's exactly what he's doing.

I saw Richard Stallman at a grocery store in Boston yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

OP here i have 16GB DDR4 and its still a pain in the ass to just open my task manager and see whats going on, especially when my MAYA uses like 600mb on startup.
>>
>>61611010
Yeah, because it's good when a basic website uses up almost all of my ram because of it's bloat which is used up solely because they need their fancy graphical nonsense..
>>
>>61611783
That won't change with another browser (unless you use Lynx or something).

Fucking this. What's the point of having RAM if you never use it all?

Let the scheduler handle that shit and stop worrying about how much RAM most programs use.

In terms of lightweight browsers, just use less tabs. If you only have 400MB of total ram in your system, get a new fucking computer.
>>
>>61611981
>What's the point of having RAM if you never use it all?
Because retard the browser isn't the only program i use and there is some heavy RAM shit i use and chrome or firefox eating 50GB to play a YT video doesn't help
>>
>>61611869
That's true, just wanted to rant a bit about how something like Youtube doesn't run properly on a tablet I once owned.. Seriously, it's retarded how people design things to look fancy instead of being functional.

You aren't helping the problem of poorly wrote programs that go haywire because why would you the developer care when resources are cheap?
>>
>>61610852
I had to switch chromium for Firefox because chrome justhe used too much fucking ram
>>
>>61611999
>chrome or firefox eating 50GB
First of all, check'em.
Secondly, I thought more than 16GB of ram was a meme?
Lastly, if you're really, really using more than 16 GB of ram, or god forbid, more than 32GB, then get more ram. Most systems today can support 128 or more. Prob if you're looking to add 64GB+ of ram, you have x*99 platform
>>
Edge, it uses 5-10x less memory than Chrome/FF
>>
I had to switch to chromium because firefox literally stopped working after I changed to fx amd processor. I really wanted to like amd but seems like its shit tier.
>>
>>61610271
Damn, look at her feet, the nylon just makes it better.
>>
Seriously though how can I cut down on how much RAM Firefox uses?
