I have an absurd understanding of the ps3 system and have to explain some shit in a few hours to someone who only understands 360 shit at a basic level.

In the event they don't understand something I've said, should I give a shit and try dumbing it down or just gloss over it.

Having to explain the difference between a disc game and HDD game went somewhat expected but at the same time there's a language barrier that's making it harder.

Now for my stupid question. how do I compile a folder of shit with only .c and .h and a makefile on Windows. I'm too fucking lazy to build it on Linux because that requires a reboot and that's just not on my to-do list tonight

Real stupid question here:

I've started work in data entry. The upshot is it's so braindead simple and antisocial that I can just put headphones in at the start of my workday and chill without having to interact with anyone. The problem comes with having enough stuff to listen to to fill out a workweek.

I've been listening to podcasts and shit but because they're in small chunks I listen to the same intros and adds and outros over and over. I thought I should look into audiobooks instead.

The thing is, I'm working in a secure facility and we can't have any cameras of any sort, so instead of listening to my phone I have this ancient-ass mp3 player. Shit like audible won't work, and even if I pirate audiobooks they tend to be in other formats. What should I do in terms of finding mp3 books or converting the ones I have?

youtube-dl question
how can I use it to target a directory for my download, instead of using the command from the directory I want the video in?
>>
>>61601395
Your games aren't going to run at playable performance in a VM. GPU passthrough is a thing, but it is likely that your hardware won't support it, and you have to do a bunch of configuration to get it going. Wendell from tek syndicate has a video up if you want to investigate this option, but it's not worth the hassle tbqh just yet. You're better off dual booting whatever Linux distro alongside Windows. Linux actually has a lot of good games available through Steam, and a bunch of older games like GTA4 and CoD MW2 run practically flawlessly through Wine, but if you want to play the latest AAA games you'll have to go with Windows on bare metal at the moment. Gaming is dumb anyway.

But to answer your question, really any Linux distro will be good with VM's because they all use the same virtualization software at the end of the day. But Fedora is likely ahead of the curve with VM technologies, since it's backed by Red Hat who does loads of VM-related shit and is updated the quickest besides maybe Arch. You'll have to add rpmfusion to dnf's sources though (it's just one line in the terminal) since you'll probably want to watch movies and porn, and Fedora doesn't have patent-encumbered codecs in their repository.

Does the Intel HD3000 iGPU have stuttering issues with 1080p video?

Friend gave me this old macbook pro 15 mid 2010 for free. I'd like to use it for watching movies/TV but I've been having a strange stuttering issue where the screen will stutter every 10 seconds or so when watching a video. Audio is unaffected. The problem goes away if I switch to the dedicated nvidia graphics (which also destroys the battery life).

I've tried watching local files, Kodi, Popcorntime, youtube, and they all experience this issue.

This model of macbook was plagued with a Graphics related kernel panic bug caused by a faulty tantalum capacitor on the motherboard controlling voltage to the GPU framebuffer. I found a patch that lowers dGPU performance and stops the kernel panics, but it's only available for OSX so I can't test for this issue on windows or linux until I replace the faulty cap.

Any way to remedy this?

Thanks for your time.

Installing build-essential will get you the basic tools you need to build C and C++ programs.

You may need to install additional software (including the -dev packages) in order to build certain software. For example, if you wanted to build the most recent version of tor, you would need libevent, openssl, and zlib, as well as the development headers for those.

No, being rooted should have no effect one way or another on whether this software decides to randomly re-install itself, and changes you make while rooted don't just reverse when you un-root. (Exception being programs granted continuous root access for some reason, of course.)

My PC can't detect hard disk drives at all, not even in the BIOS, but it detects my SSD, here's the rundown.
>have two HDDs and an SSD
>SSD works properly
>swap cables around, confirm the cables are working
>swap SATA ports, SSD still works, which means...
>Cables snd ports are working properly
>Test both hard drives in a different computer, both working
So why isn't my mobo detecting the HDDs, but detects the SSD without any issues? How can I fix this?
I'm considering buying a PCI-E expansion card with SATA ports,, because I can't afford to replace the motherboard if that is the problem.
I had a faulty PSU months ago which would cause unexpected shutdowns, I've replaced the PSU since then but I'm pretty sure it has caused damage to the motherboard because the Ethernet port doesn't work anymore and now this crap with not recognising the HDDs is happening.

Any advice or opinions you can share will be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

>>
>>61608006
On paper any of them are fine to start with. Programming isn't about knowing languages. It's about knowing concepts and being able to implement them effectively. These concepts you learn will transfer from one language to another and picking up new languages is a breeze after learning the concepts and practicing them.

That being said, I'd recommend avoiding python (or any scripting language) as it will teach you some bad habits and concepts that do the apply else where.
C++ is a huge bite to take but has everything you need to learn all the concepts.
Java is fine to learn from too, pretty easy to use and learn and lots of material to learn from.
If you want a non object oriented language, I'd recommend C. Though it's a huge mountain to overcome.C is a bit of a mess until you really learn how it works.

Tldr: whatever you feel like. Just do something and get started.

Anyone good as SQL?

I'm getting some weird behavior on a query that I can't even begin to understand.

Basically, I need to generate a report of files that don't have any activity in the last three weeks. Should be able to just get the note date and pick the last one, and only return the ones older than 21 days, right?

Well a couple of cases are behaving oddly. I've got one where there's a note dated today 7/28 and the one prior to that is 6/21. It's showing up on the report with a last note date of 6/21.

Where it really is bugging me is that if I apply a filter to the case # to only return this specific file (and change only that), the last note returns as expected 7/28. If I change the filter to return any four or less cases, the date is correct at 7/28; five or more cases and it's 6/21.

There are more files with this behavior, but not most of them. As far as I can tell there's no relation to the files where this is happening though I'm sure there is.

Anyone have any clue what could cause this behavior?

It's very much more lightweight. I can't say much about the security, but I assume it's more secure.

I've just finished installing Windows 7 64 bit home edition and am currently working to disable tracking/telemetry
I'm at the elevated command prompt and am attempting to enter the following commands
>echo "" > >C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\ETLLogs\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl
However, the first line says that the syntax isn't recognized and the second line says that the process is already being used by another process
What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>61609985
A browser is much bigger, has plugins, Javascript support etc so it has more possible vulnerabilities

The problem is that it literally is little. I'm rotating and moving a little ~30x30px image and it is jittery as fuck.
Would using somethimng like velocityJS or jquery help? currently I am moving it with left and top and rotating with transform.

Metaprogramming is a term coined by the scientist and complete mentalist John Lilly in his book 'Metaprogramming and the Human Bio-computer'. He was also the inventor of floatation tanks, interesting guy although he went a bit mad and got bitch tits after taking too much Ketamine for experimental purposes.

I have no idea what it has to do with the python scripting language other than it's a scripting language.

Noticed a lot of weird clipping and distortion at high volume when I was at 48000khz but when I set it to 96000khz it went away? What gives? I thought you guys said nobody does anything above 48000khz so it was pointless to set it higher?

if it is recording sounds above 24KHZ then distortion and clipping can still occur when sampling at 48KHZ and this is can be heard on the lower resonant frequencies.

by sampling at 96KHZ this can go away

read about the nyquist point
