What linux distro should a new user get? I want to run win 10 through a VM with linux as the host for games, but use linux for my other tasks. Which distro has the best support for VMs?

fedora would suit your needs pretty good. you don't need to be an expect to use it, and it fairs pretty well with vms. you should still count on needing to do some configuration if you're trying to achieve near-native gaming perfomance
