Is it still viable to run Windows 2K in 2017??

at first I was going to say no, or at least don't get on the internet with it, but after some reflexion, it seems the answer is more nuanced.
a lot of updated software will run on XP, but not on 2000, so you may have to find some older version of stuff.
security-wise, it's not patched anymore. this begs the question: does anyone make malware or exploits specifically targeting it anymore? XP exploit that don't work on patched XP might work on 2000.
at least use a firewall and some anti-virus (if you can find one that is current)

I run it in a vm at around 4ghz regularly. Offline of course.

There are a lot of servers using 2k era windows server.
Not sure if any modern applications really support it anymore

What servers are still using Windows 2k

Yes. Windows 2000 is 200 times better than Windows 10.

At my old (software) company, a leader in its particular industry, almost every server was Windows Server 2008, and about 5% were Windows 2003. Not sure if that qualifies as 2k era but it's pretty damn old regardless.
