Help /g/, my Nexus 6 battery has finally started majorly shitting itself. Which new phone do I get? Here are the essentials:
>Good display, 1080p+
>Stereo front-firing speakers
>Headphone jack

>Relatively new processor, released within the last year or so
AMOLED would be nice but oh well, it's a luxury.

I seriously can't get over this stupid gimmick and why these companies would discard basic fucking convenience like this just because Apple did it for "muh thinnesssss." It makes me mad as hell that so many new flagship phones are being invalidated by lack of a 3.5mm jack. Does the Nokia 7 even exist? There seems to be absolutely no info on it.

Nokia 6 has shit specs, looking at tons of videos there is just too much stutter. Its a shame since it has a good build.

Nokia 8 is a full-blown flagship so we have no in-between. We need a true midrange phone around the $400-450 mark. I'll bite then. I need something to last a couple of years.

Any other Pixel owners here? I just got the Daydream headset on sale, and I fucking love it. Does the XL really make a difference for this thing? The regular feels good enough, but I can tell it's pretty pixelated. However, the Pixel is basically the perfect phone for me. If the Pixel 3, regular edition, has a QHD screen would it be worth the upgrade for shitty mobile VR? I'm assuming the elongated screen would help with that too, but I don't want to get the XL because after switching from the 6P to the Pixel I realized big phones are just cumbersome and not worth the advantages.

>Zuk Z2 Pro 6/128 (with latest Stock ROM, original, no vendor shit)

Pros:
>Size is perfect, it isn't big, neither small
>Amoled screen is beautiful, I literally can't see IPS screens now without thinking they look washed out and with lifeless colors
>You can unlock the bootloader fairly easy
>Nougat on Stock ROM
>An overall pretty phone, the glass back and metal frame looks nice, also there's almost no black borders on the screen (I have the white one)
>U-Touch is nice and useful
>Performance is OK, also I've got no RAM problems either, I can let heavy games on background, hours later and they're still there
>USB C charges pretty fast, I don't think I've ever need a quick charger because the standard charging is fast to me
>UFS internal memory is snappy, I can transfer my shit in an instant
>Good SoT, it truly lasts all day

Cons:
>A big one. The phone gets H O T under normal usage (posting shit on facebook, replying whatsapp messages, phoneposting on Clover). It gets INFERNALLY HOT during intensive tasks like watching Youtube videos or playing games like Fire Emblem Heroes
>Glass back is S L I P P E R Y as fuck, you have to slap a case on it, like it or not.
>Camera is just average, nothing special
>Stock ROM, ZUI, is pretty divisive, it got some nice features like U-Touch and Screenshot cropping but it's a pain on the ass, Dual Screen is badly implemented and there's no expandeable notifications or heads-up. Also fucking Safe Center
>Fingerprint reader is pretty inaccurate, and when it finally reads your finger, it's somewhat slow to unlock.
>There's no official Lineage OS ROM

Overall a nice phone, but the heat the processor emits is too much and it gets uncomfortable quickly, I have to avoid getting my hand or fingers on the top half of the phone because that's where it gets the hottest.
I can endure shit like the slippery design and the trash stock ROM, but not the temps.

I've already throw it on ebay so I can buy a Z Play
>>
>>61602826
Yeah the SD820 an SD821 does get hot but
I don't understand why you would want to buy a SD625 when it's MUCH MUCH weaker than SD820/821.

Also for the price of the Moto Z Play you could get something better. Like a Honor 8.
>>
>>61602852
because

>the extra battery would be nice
>I prefer the Z Play design
>Stock ROM features clean Android
>I'll have official Lineage OS
>I'll have an Android O Stock ROM
>The JBL and gamepad mods look nice

and more importantly, the 625 doesn't burns
since I don't care about raw power, I'll be good, as I said, I only use the device for social shit, calls, messaging and listening to music

I don't use heavy apps or games to justify having a 820

yeah, I was thinking on buying an Honor 8 but... the UI is as horrible as Zuk's, also I don't trust Kirin processors (I look into modding community before buying a phone). Also a nitpick, I don't like back placed fingerprint readers.

but, I'm interested on the Nokia 8, since I was a nokia fanboy back on the dumbphone era, and the all metal design gives me a boner. That and the fact that it features clean Android, and comes with Nougat out of the box it seems like a nice deal.
BUT, I have my doubts on the processor, did Qualcomm fixed the overheating on the SD835?
>>
>>61602946
I got a mi6 and it never overheats.
So I am assuming it and there aren't anyone currently that reports the SD835 to have any heat issues.

>WAH! m-muh j-jack

My pockets killed so many headphones that I moved on to bluetooth audio years ago.
Tried a wired headset again a while ago and it was just pure hell, that shit was always tangled and the wires were always in the way.

The wires either keep swinging all over the place(if you let them be free) or they keep tugging and pulling the headphones everytime you move head(when you tuck the wires under clothes or clip them) it makes comfy walking fucking impossible.

So personally I don't mind the removal of the 3,5 jack.
It is useless garbage that should have been phased out with the dinosaurshits.

Hello /g/entoomen, I'm in search of a new phone after I've had to depart from my trusty HTC Desire 820 after it feel from the third floor. Here are my preferable specifications:

>A snapdragon processor
>4GB+ of ram
>64GB+ of rom and an SD card slot
>5.5" screen diagonal or less (1920x1080)
>Decent battery life (preferably 4k mAh but I guess 3.2k+ is ok)
>A decent enough camera quality (no need for anything fancy)
>Something from 2017

Here's the kicker, does a phone like this exist in the pricerange under 250 yurobucks?
>>
>>61604829
Nokia 6. Depending on your country however you might not be able to find the 4GB/64GB version, but only the 3GB/32GB. Other than that the battery is 3k mAh, but the processor is a SD430 which shouldn't drain that much power. A good thing is that it's built like a tank, you can use it to bang nails into a wall. It costs 200~250€.

I'm looking to upgrade from my Oneplus One. It still works more then fine (after being replaced once) and I like most of the features as they are. But the modem is kinda shitty and the lack of the LTE band 20 makes it more or less useless for me nowadays.
So here's stuff that seems important to me:
>5-5.5" screen
>good battery (right now the 1+1 has 30-50% battery left at the end of the day)
>headphone jack
>LTE band 20

Okay so, I need a smartphone with <5.2" screen and a price range around Huawei P9 Lite. What is the best phone in that price range? I was thinking about these:

>huawei p9 lite
>redmi 4x
>galaxy a5 (possibly j5, have no clue what are the differences)

I know redmi note 4 is great and imo THE best option, but the screen is too big (the phone is not for me). I don't know how good is 4X, but I've seen that the screen has a 720p resolution which seems weak. Huawei P9 Lite felt a bit clunky and slow in a shop and A5 seemed fine, but I'm scared of Samsung's mid-range, since I know they tend to get very shitty after a year or two of usage.

P9 Lite is possibly the strongest contender, but I don't know if it is worth it.

>>61612743
Does p9 Lite have smooth UI? It's for my dad, so he doesn't need to use many high demanding apps, but at least UI should be smooth. The device I tested in the shop was pretty slow to turn on from sleep and it kinda lagged a bit in the menu. It could be just that device, but I've not seen much lagging on different phones so that spooked me a bit. Other than that, it seems fine.
>>
>>61612855
I'm now looking at p10 lite, found out it is not much more expensive, maybe he should go with that one.

google your phone model and type "how to unlock" next to it

I want to use a phone for 2-step authentication but don't wanna pay $40/month to get a phone plan. Is there a way to use a smartphone, with a number, by piggy-backing off of my router or something? I don't plan on using my phone outside of the home.

I'm aware of android emulators but those are incredibly resource-hungry, not something I want to be running 24/7 on my computer.

For the same price ($100 on contract), do I take the LG V20 or the Huawei P10 Plus (4GB/64GB)?
>>
>>61616765
huawei
>>
>>61616782
That's what I'm leaning towards. The DAC on the V20 looks pretty nice though.

phone numbers are allocated by service providers so no

Xiaomi Redmi 3 16 Gb 4G LTE
or
Xiaomi Redmi 4a 32 Gb

But you don't need phone number for 2FA, I just had to download an app and scan a code for it to work.
>>
>>61617155

depends on what you want 2fa with. some sites/accounts use phone numbers to text you a code.

gross

I have a shitty phone called Stylo 3. How did I do /g/?
>>
>>61617194
Horrible
You probably overpaid for it too
>>
>>61617282
$60 for the shitty phone $40 for the shitty service
Needed a device that can call and navigate with a big ass screen
Know any better choice with low cost? serious question cause I can return this piece of shit to get my money back for better phone
>>
>>61617308
How much can you afford?
>>
Xiaomi Redmi 4
or
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro
?
>>
>>61617317
$200 is my limit for a phone. Really just need a big screen for navigation and it gotta fast. Was bout to shoot for a iPhone SE, but saw this was cheaper and went for it.
>>
>>61617337
>$200 is my limit
Honor 6X just got officially dropped to $199, has a decent camera, good chipset, developer support, and just got the official Nougat update to EMUI 5
If you're American you might be able to get it through Best Buy cause I know they sell the Honor 8 but not sure if online only

my moto g5 detects the moment I pick it up and turns itself on. how can I disable that? I want it to activate only when I press the power button.

DNS66 or NetGuard?
>>
>>61616032
>>61616289
Will that work on T-Mobile? Seems like only one of the 4g bands matches up, dunno if that'll yield reliable connections
>>
>>61618484
Nvm, Google is friend
>>

>It's also selling like shit
Because normies got diverted from the G6 by the S8, that sure has better screen, better screen to body ratio, and newer SoC, but all that glitters is not gold.
>it's spammed in this general as much as it is
Because it's a dirt cheap flagships, with flagship characteristics, and an almost-bezelless screen.
>>
If I can get either a G6 or U11 for $400 is it still worth considering chink phones?
>>
>>61619430
It's always worth considering everything that you can buy within a certain budget and decide upon your preferences.
>>
is there a better alternative to the Redmi 4x (3/32) for a similar price?
Let's suppose the Redmi 4 (2/16) is at the same value as the phone mentioned above, which one would be a better offer?

Alcatel idol 4 or 4s (plus)
Both have dual speakers from JBL
idol 4 has a 1080p screen with a snapdragon 617 and 3gb of ram
Is like €149 in the netherlands
Idol 4s has a 2K oled screen 4gb of ram a snapdragon 6?? and has a 4k camera
Costs €350
Both come with a vr headset, case and a pair of JBL headsets
According to reviewers it has the best speakers for a phone, and it fires from front and back so maybe virtual 5.1 is a pretty neat thing

What's the best video player that supports local network streaming?
I'm currently using VLC.

So since Oneplus failed their motto, what's the "flagship killer" of 2017? Their first phone was dirt cheap but with specs comparable to the top of the tops. Now they are as expensive as flagships of last year.
