Most people don't get hired directly to the Genius Bar, and even if you do you start out as a Technical Specialist (all diagnosing, no screw-turning at all). They hire internally for higher positions like Technical Expert or Genius. You have to be in your position for 6+ months to be eligible for promotion. You also need to have achieved expectations for 6 consecutive months.

Good luck, but don't go in expecting to blow their tits off with "I fix my friends phones lol pls make me a Genius". Be the best believable version of yourself and read up on their values as a company.
