Why was this considered a flop? I thought it gave a great explanation of what he did for people who would have no clue otherwise, and just a genuinely good movie after all. Was it ignored because it was too controversial?
Not /tv/
>Sell 800GB of data to russians
>hero
That movie was censored on my city
They anounced it but after like 2 weeks they remove it from the cinema kek

snowden is a fucking joke and no one takes him seriously
also the actor who played him is shit
>>61576356
>movie about biggest traitor
no thanks
>>61576356
i liked it. im pretty sure if you arent really into tech you might enjoy it. if you like tech you will like it a lot. but if you are a complete neckbeard like most people on this board you will hate it.
citizenfour was better.

>Why was this considered a flop?
CIA has ties to Hollywood, there is your explanation.
>>61576356
CitizenFour was accurate enough, and it wasn't over-dramatized.
If you're interested in the history of the NSA before Snowden, here's an excellent documentary.

It was a shit movie
good movie so naturally people on any 4chan board hates it
was over-dramatized just like any other movie but the takeaway is the same: snowden proved that the US government collecting obscene amounts of data and hacking into devices using what beforehand was considered looneytoons-level technology.
check out stuxnet too if you enjoyed this motion picture presentation

they're still better than russia or china though
>>61578024
yes probably, but i probably only think that because i live in the west
but that doesn't mean they didn't do it and frankly im happy that people are more aware of the capabilities that they have.
im happy that i no longer get scoffed off as a conspiring lunatic for trying to educate people about the very real abilities of the powers that be

It was ignored because it was a low effort cash in on a recent news item. Generic thriller that stays within the bumpers, a mediocre narrative. It's a flick through and through, and not even an interesting one.
I thought the timing was pretty shit. Far enough after his actions that what he did was already discussed to death. Close enough after his actions that nobody is learning anything new and the ramifications still haven't fully played out.
I also saw exactly 0 ads for it.
>>61578073
Most people on the street still deny it though.
When you say, there have a warehouse solely for keeping track of everything they collect, they look at you like "that's nonsense, besides it's not like they have people sitting there combing through it!" I admit, it's a valid argument in the sense that it's not like they instantly know who is looking up scat porn, but it's also not like they can't use algorithms to search for specific things in that database.
>>61578106
Also Citizenfour beat them to the punch and was more interesting than a fucking docudrama.
>>61578121
i think there has been positive progress made. obviously not everyone is going to understand or care. but i believe that a significant portion should understand and care, and this film at least gets more people aware of it, which is the first step towards understanding and caring

what city anon?

A LEGEND

The marblemouthed acting job didn't do him justice
>>61578576
A spic one considering the spanglish
>>61576356
Interesting movie. I didn't reazile that the NSA completely owned all japanese infrastructure before watching it, and I followed the snowden leaks pretty closely
It was a good movie. I didnt realize that Snowden was an ace programmer who actually built large scale surveillance programs, pretty impressive considering he is self-taught.
Does anyone know what programming language Snowden used to make those programs?
>>61580593
Lisp
>>61580607
can you back that up? I seriously doubt it
>>61576356
>flop
I just watched it last night because it's in Netflix's top rated section, kek. I don't think that's a 'flop', anon.
