Tips for opening screws if you dont have these that are small enough
>>
Get the proper size screw driver. Trying to jury rig it will just strip the head and make your life harder.

Buy a set on Ali, it's like $5

Use your dick, should be small enough

drill it away

>she doesn't have a screwdriver set or a bit set
this is why women in tech is a bad idea
>>
>>61576165
Place some thin cloth over the screw, insert screwdriver, turn.

hammer the end of a paperclip flat
>>
File a flat screwdriver down to the size you need. Push hard and twist. Laptops rarely have high torque on screws, you'll only strip the head if you're retarded or very unlucky.
>>
>>61576082
Your tiny dick will probably do the trick, if not, at least you screwed something...
>>
use blutac or sellotape in the hole. you won't be able to get it tight when you put it back though
>>
superglue screwdriver to it, wait to dry, unscrew
>>
>>61576082
Buy screwdrivers and stop being poor
>>
Just buy a set of screwdrivers for glasses, dead cheap and you get a few sizes for phillips and flat head.

Take rubber band, stretch over screw, insert screwdriver and turn.

>using a flathead on a Philips screw.
You /g/uys actually do this?

Anyways, one of these with a full set of bits (not forgetting Torx) is the best investment you can make, tools wise.
>>
>>61577237
>>using a flathead on a Philips screw.
Yes, I saw/dremel stripped screw heads to fit it in.
>>
>>61577292
wh...why??
>>
>>61577309
I cannot be assed to otherwise toy with nickle and dime components on electronics.
>>
>>61576165
pry it out then glue the broken shit back in you faggot
>>
>>61577334
Using the correct screw bit makes it a lot easier.

My question is why do you complicate things by picking the wrong tool?
>>
>>61576082
Melt a acrylic pen a little then place it o. The screw and let it get cold
>>
>>61577498
I don't pick the wrong tool. Some screws, especially on laptops, can be stripped by as much as looking at them sternly, let alone a perfectly fitting phillips.
>>
>>61577543
If you use the correct size Philips it won't strip.
>>
>>61576082
Just file some old screwdriver.

I swear, people these days are like fucking babies.
>>
>>61577574
Yes, yes it will. You must have limited experience with chinkshit.
>>
>>61577623
I really wonder what will happen once the older generations die out an nobody knows how to fix or build technology anymore.

Will society collapse?
>>
>>61576082
use a flathead, the flat head (instead of a phillips) will get you more grip on it.

For stripped screws, before inserting your screw driver into the screw, put the side of a rubber band over it, the rubber band will help you grip better
>>
>>61577237
>You /g/uys actually do this?
yes because it works.
>>
>>61577681
Hardware repair will become the new webdev.
>>
>>61577657
>thinks a flathead won't strip a screw but a proper sized Philips won't.
>claims I'm the one with limited experience.

Kid, just buy and use the proper tools.
>>
>>61577685
>the flat head (instead of a phillips) will get you more grip on it.

>what Millennials ACTUALLY believe.
>>
>>61577708
Oh you assumed I'm OP
>>
>>61577739
Phillips are made to slide out under tension, so yes, they're rounded and overall shit.
>>
>>61576082
Not OP, but what if I had a screw where the head was so worn down I flatout can't get a screwdriver to turn it?

It's the back screw on a Thinkpad, and I can't open it right now. Kinda annoying.
>>
>>61576146
Don't waste $5 on Chink shit that will just disintegrate when you tried to use them.

True, but it's still a lot better that fucking about with a flathead.

>>61576165
Remove the back cap and heat up the end of a BIC pen, then put it on top of the screw while it's hot so it molds itself after it and then unscrew it when it cools down.
>>
>>61578165
That is fucking smart. Whoever thought this up is the next step of evolution, honestly.
>>
>>61576082
don't
>>
>>61576082
Buy a #0 and #00 driver if you are remotely interested in laptop/device repair. My #0 Phillips is my second most used driver. It's hardly a tool you will need once.
>>
I really mean it when EVERY tech should have a set of itsy bitsy Phillips drivers. I have never once found a use for a flat head when a Phillips would suffice. For the cost of one of those sets and the room it takes up its worth it. Even if just to have on hand for next time.
>>
>>61578424
Can't trust chinks to use hard metal screws, but I should trust them with drivers?
>>
>>61578424
>set of itsy bitsy Phillips drivers.

itsy bitsy heads but not itsy bitsy grips.
>>
>>61576082
Buy a smaller set of drivers for $1 at your local Daiso.
