What does /g/ use to play local music?
What skins do you use?

Preferably looking for suggestions on Windows.
>>
iTunes runs like shit on Windows.
If you want iTunes to run well on Windows, get MusicBee.
Clementine doesn't offer enough customization.
foobar is the one you want.

I use ffplay with acme. In fact it works for remote source if its mounted. skin: standard acme one. Both of these programs are cross platform, so you should be able to run them on windows.

It just works. Foobar2k is for autists.

For me it has the best audio quality, sorts by album artist, sorts by file hierarchy, great equalizer, and the alpha build has a built-in visualizer if you're a faggot like me who likes to look at music.

I use iTunes cos I have everything labelled the way I want through it.

tried other layers and when I loaded up my music they didn't seem to be labelled properly.

A minor amount of visual scripting to tweak ColumnsUI and you have a nice minimal player.

It can also be bit perfect (like musicbee etc.), but I'm getting over that autistic phase. You don't spend all your time looking at the player anyways. It just has to be good enough to navigate easily then play and minimize. Even then you can have spectrum visualizers or big album artwork.

On GNU/Linux you should use mpd+ncmpcpp
On Windows you should use winamp or foobar
On Android you should use vanilla music, or Poweramp if you're an autist

Clementine

I'm still looking for some sort of solution for getting access to my music from elsewhere though, even when my PC is off, preferable free because I'm a cheapskate and also don't want to pay for something I'm gonna use only ocassionally

Paid GDrive seems like the primary option
Google Music has small upload limit, it also mangles your tags, no API
VPS storage is very expensive unfortunately

i use this music player called Phonograph, it's a pretty good app design wise.

I used to use Google music just for local play and really hate how it zooms into the album work. I heard poweramp is really popular but it never catched my attention.

>>61574974
I had that, sadly had to switch to aimp because it doesn't support opus

I have my library in iTunes all sorted nicely and uniformly with how iTunes sorts by default, but I used mp3tag to do it (pic related.)

However I do most of my listening to both my library and random audio files with foobar2000. My library is set up the same way there as well. I use fb2k b/c it's just faster.
>>
I use Groove music. It's more than fine for what I need, which is just listening to tracks I downloaded.

If I need to modify tags and meta data, I use a separate program. Groove is a work in progress, so it still lacks good support for editing meta data.

Well, the way I have my music it's hard to distribute. I have music that's properly tagged and such in a way that adding it automatically to something like iTunes is no chore. But I have other music that is not distributed in albums or organized. I use Foobar2k in the end because it's really compatible, it doesn't take a lot of time to customize the basic GUI and that's about it.

I tried MusicBee a while ago and it was a mess. Adding tagged music didn't make much sense because the library didn't really tell you whether it was using the original file source or some copy of the music you added, it has this inbox, 20 billion features that I'm not gonna use but are included anyways, it's really terrible. All I had to do with iTunes was make sure that I had a backup of my music and just fucking drag and drop it, then tag it if it was untagged. It's like a mix of foobar and itunes with the advantages of none.

I use the date of the actual release (e.g., U.S. release date vs. other countries, special editions) and the original date of the recording (e.g., released before CDs existed). This way I can easily sort by released in chronological order even if an artist has multiple releases in a year, and it also can sort by year of the original release, which is very handy for reissues..

Musicbee for Windows
Blackplayer for Android

>>61576881

Most importantly, how do you guys sort your music?
The fags who make music players seem obsessed with making
>Album Artist > Album > Track
the norm, but I prefer
>Album > Track
Then some freaks prefer some shit like
>Genre > Album Artist > Album > Track

If you have a lot of music you can't just do album -> track.
I do the first because its the best
>>
>>61579700
Doesn't it get annoying when you have albums where multiple artists contribute, though?
Like when I first got Musicbee, I had dozens and dozens of album artists with one or two songs because I have a few film and video game soundtracks. Super annoying.
>>
>>61579736
>Doesn't it get annoying when you have albums where multiple artists contribute, though?
No if you have a non-shit player that seeks the album artist tag when sorting.
>>
>>61579776
OK, so let's say that there's just one album artist instead of counting all the different artists in an album. What the fuck are you supposed to put for the album artist on something like a movie soundtrack? The name of the movie? Now you're back at just sorting by album.
>>
>>61579736
if its a 'split' like the first entry on my image, kinda. It's not a problem if its a soundtrack or remix album for example - just call the artist X soundtrack or game company
>>
>>61576685
this
>>
>>61579374
%ALBUM ARTIST% - %DATE% - %ALBUM% - %DISCNUMBER% - %TRACKNUMBER% - %TITLE%
for my main playlist in fb2k.
>>
>>61574909
This is horrible. No click n play just straight up write code and make it play. Now this is what I call Autism.
>>
VLC is good enough for me. I already use it as my default video player, so it makes sense to use it as my music player.
>>
>>61576137
This. I'm too lazy to even learn how to use it properly but I know how to pause songs and shuffle so that's good enough.
>>
>>61577150
