I'll explain it to you: since almost all physical books for adults use similar sized pages and text, adding the page count gives you a general idea how long a book is.
My Kindle for example also does it and regardless of text size tells me on which 'page' I am (or rather on which page I would be if I were reading a physical copy). It looks kinda funny too, with my font I have to skip several pages to make the page change.

Doubt that anybody here would want to get in HDB to sell invites. Nevertheless I do agree that it's not currently worth it. I got in when they recruited from regular pu sections, it's a great tracker but not worth that much work. Especially when they are going to open up recruitment on easier places eventually.
