I can service my Elitebook just fine without voiding the warranty. How else would I be able to install new ssd, more ram or whatever?
>>
>>61551990
I have yet to come across a "WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED" sticker in my Lenovo (not even a Thinkpad).
A friend of mine recently had some overheating problems on his HP. I fixed it by replacing the dried up thermal paste. Figuring out how to get it apart was the hard part. I wound up nearly completely dismantling it before I could get at the heatsink, but get at it I did. No "WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED" stickers to be found.

No offense but I think the burden is on you here. This has to be bait. What tasks that take place outside of a web browser (and even then if it's work related stuff curl is used extensively all day everyday) are faster/easier with a gui (or at least so much so that you somehow can't fathom someone using the command line)?

The answer to your question is literally "almost everything" and you would need to be much more specific.

Am I taking supreme bait here?

You have to be joking. If you get the static version it's even just one single command line executable that literally runs everywhere.

The only thing you could possibly screw up is get one that's compiled for a CPU newer than yours. And even then you must have a real old/weird CPU.

I plan on using vim for my next book, but I'm not really responsible for graphics AND I have to give it to someone else to proofread in docx format.

This workflow works well with all hoops being jumped through

True, but you can turn time consuming things into scripts on Linux. But oh boy on windows? Click this, click that, click, click, click every fucking time - well unless you install some third party mouse recorder/playback software.

This annoys the shit out of me. I'm mainly a winfag, but even I prefer to avoid ms office. I just use libreoffice and latex mainly, but every so often I am forced to convert shit to docx, which fucks up the layout. Even some IT jobsite required CVs to be uploaded in .doc format for crying out loud. What the hell, don't force people to buy that shit. Give some options. At least PDF.

Linux doesn't. Windows requires high-end hardware to be decent.

>usability
Linux hasn't a shred of usability outside of the terminal, which osx and now windows 10 have. Windows is still garbage for usability, especially with the new "modern" UX

>functionality
What can I do in Linux that I can't in OSX besides sudo rm -rf / ? Windows functionality is derived solely from 3rd party software companies being cucked into the windows platform exclusively.

Should have, didn't fuck anything up, no static etc. It's not my first rodeo, and won't be my last, but HPs have random mobo failure. My last HP literally died while watching animu. Power off, turn on, one blink (CPU/Motherboard failure). They suck.

Because your design is crap to begin with, and you probably aren't experienced.
>>
>>61565237
I'd bet good money I've been a dev longer than you.

I work with a design team and they're good. Every once and a while, I'll try to tweak something and then everything is on fire.

Usually the cause for us has been poor communication/some newbie not following standards and getting past code review because the reviewer didn't give a fuck. It leaves the markup in a spaghetti state that I then get the fortune of fixing so that our css doesn't also become a mountain of spot fixes when someone adds a new component to a page.

I really hate lazy reviewers...
>>
>>61565384
Today it was because a designer styled directly on the <label> element.

Designers work on our projects solo. Code review would help so much, you're right.
