First the start menu. Now paint. When will it end...
for pixel art original paint is better. for basic 3d sketchup is better. paint 3d is a waste of time.

Paint has been there for me when I didn't want to wait for GIMP to load.

It isn't getting killed. It just won't receive updates. Read the actual announcement.
>>61540122
>Microsoft’s next Windows 10 update, called the Autumn (or Fall in the US) Creators Update
This is objectively false and has been explicitly stated to be an incorrect rumor by MS themselves. There is no "Autumn Creators Update." It is the Fall Creators Update in every locality. Why doesn't the Guardian know this? Trash article.
>>61541546
to be honest, i never want gimp to load
>>61541659
>meanwhile in 2023
>"microsoft once again furious because it has to roll out another update to unsupported software"
>turns out the NSA found another way to get root access through yet another legacy code monstrosity in MS paint and then it got into the dark web
>>61541963
Legacy paint is a relatively tiny program, and it's not critical to operation in any way, so you've been free to delete it in any case.
>using Windows 10
>>61542203
>pre-emptively using a picture of a circle because he's already butthurt about it before he's even posting
holy shit never change eternally butt-blasted gimpfags
>>61542203
What the fuck is deal with GIMP and circles?
>>61540122

i loved mocking up logos in ms paint. and mock ups in general. paint was easy, fast and limited in use. weird as it may sound the latter did wonders for creativity.
>>61542203

Will it be removed from my computer once the update hits? I really don't want to use paint.net because it's filling tool is absolute horseshit.
>>61542329
>Will it be removed from my computer once the update hits?
Nope. They're just not updating it anymore, it isn't being removed from Windows at all.
>>61540122
They want you to pay for a paint equivalent program I bet. Just you wait
Why is everything changing so fast? Does it even have to?
>>61542390
Say if i bought a new windows 10 computer will it have paint in it? If so will i be able to download from anywhere that isn't filled with viruses?
>>61542249
It's comically difficult (compared to Photoshop) to create a circle in the GIMP. What should be a click+drag operation turns into a multistep process with multiple tools required. Winbabbies like to use this as an example of "freetards BTFO!" but every program has its quirks. Besides, most non-stallmanites recognize that Photoshop is superior for a production environment anyway.
I still run it by pressing winkey+r and type pbrush.
I will me missing that
>>61540122

Paint was always there for me when PDN crashed. Rest in piss, you beautiful bastard.
>>61540122

how will never trump memers ever recover?
#FuckPaint3D
>>61542464
Yes, read the article. Literally the only news is that they aren't giving it updates anymore.
>>61540122
its literally time to enable .svg support on 4chan and make ultra small hd memes that may or may not come with animations.
>>61540122
retarded. i use paint more than anything else
> let's kill functional features that just work
What are they tryin to prove lmao. "We ze masterz of ya computaz"?
>>61542475
>What should be a click+drag operation turns into a multistep process with multiple tools required.
This is true of so much in GIMP. It's seriously some of the worst designed software that I've ever used regularly. Only Blender has a worse GUI/design choices.
>>61540931
Next is DOS...
>>61540122
how am i gonna make memes now?
>>61543745

/g/ developed fork of windows 7 with the goal of slowly replacing everything with FOSS components WHEN?!
>distribute it as a patch for the 100% legal™ windows 7 iso everyone has

Introducing Paint Pro, for only 4.99 a month!

>>61540122
fucking poos killing all the good stuff i bet they will now try to sell it to you later

>>61540122
If it were open source we would still have ms paint today. But since wasn't paint is kill. What does that tell you about proprietary software like microsoft windows xp... OH WAIT
I have never used mspaint since discovering paint.NET.
>>61540122
F ;~;
gone but not forgotten
>>61545546
you can't fork what is heavily proprietary
the "developers" at microsoft needed 450,000 lines of code to write MS paint
>>61542475
why is creating a circle so important?
>>61549385
But large chunks of it are already reimplemented, WINE has copies of most .dll files. Think of it like ReactOS, but on TPB instead of GitHub. And a lot of it can be slimmed down, the core install is only ~1gb.
>>61549477
And how do you suggest fixing the bugs and vulnerabilities in all that shit when MS won't release the source code?
>>61549492
You reverse engineer or replace it, either with free alternatives or with whatever you can scavenge from windows 8/10
Meh. MS Paint is complete garbage, too. I never used it.
Only thing I use paint for is to resize images and make screenshots. It's perfect for that though. I don't need it replaced with some bloated piece of shot.
>>61542475
What part of using the circle select, fill it out and then shrink selection so difficult?
>>61543723
But how will I operate the disk?
>>61540122
So I guess that's it then.
>>61549651
The part where I just choose the circle tool in Photoshop.
GIMP cant even compare to PaintShopPro 3.
>>61541982
This is like saying IE is safe to delete if you have an alternative installed.
However programs like hh or anything to do with IIs "require" it.
Not arguing Baka, don't worry.
>>61540931
They already killed calc.
>>61543653
this. thank fuck the blender game engine didn't take off
Makes sense. One of the last Microsoft programs that start fast and don't have telemetry.
What will the next portal ARG use if they take out telnet too? How will I telnet into my ISP's SMTP server?
>>61551423
Actually this post reminded how much better PSP was than basically anything other than Photoshop and how much I hate using Photoshop in WINE.
PSP7.04 on the other hand seems to work fucking perfectly and has all the tools I remember.
>>61551458
Your kidding right?
