Analyzing the first pick :
> ryzen 7 box in the background
> Appears the threadripper box is ~4times as big as it
> ryzen 7 box is dimensioned for wraith spire cooler
> Threadripper in a box 4 times its size but no cooler? (unlikely)
Analyzing 2nd picture :
> Box appears to open by a midway seam.
> Threadripper is placed recessed in the z-plane (backwards) and centered in y-plane vertical axis.
> This means when you pull the top of the case it will have the threadripper proc sitting as a belt buckle between a equally portioned top/bottom..
> I'm seeing here something like the cooler resting in the bottom w/ the cooler tubes running up between the foam pieces acting as a hinge w/ the base-plate at the top
Thoughts anons? I need weaponized autism to confirm cooler in retail boxing

POTTERY
If it really is a 120mm AIO CLC:
- you'd want to use at least a 240mm anyway at this level
- won't be compatible with other sockets
- could have been cheaper without the bundled cooler
+ only Noctua have showed their coolers, so not like you have much to choose from
+ at least you have something while you wait for your water block
+ a 120mm AIO can handle a 3.4GHz 16 core chip. That's amazing
Intel themselves recommend an AIO for Skylake-X. AMD just said "okay, here's one for free". T-thanks AMD

>>61540745
For all we know all your normal coolers may work just fine even if the IHS is big if the dies are somewhat close together using your normal coolers will be fine.
Hell given that you can pretty much hit max OC with the stock cooler with ryzen you might not need to go beyond that 120mm AIO. Threadripper is going to be soldered so not nearly as hard to cool as x299
>>61539492
Get a job and stop being a living disappointment you fucking slob
>>61540827
Noctua themselves said Socket TR4 won't be compatible with existing coolers. There will be no upgrade kits. They do have a 92mm model, so that says a lot about the thermals.
http://noctua.at/en/noctua-at-computex-2017
>>61540960
>so that says a lot about the thermals.
That doesn't say anything about the thermals of THREADSHITTER(TM).
It's just that TR4 is so comically huge due to Epyc, that regular coolers simply can't cover the whole heat spreader. You definitely don't want your heat spreader not completely covered.
>>61541008
>That doesn't say anything about the thermals of THREADSHITTER(TM).
It kind of does, Noctua is comfortable enough to release a 92mm cooler for TR4 so its expected you'll get decent thermals despite a small cooler . Skylake-x would just give up using a 92mm cooler

>>61541174
>>61541205
>>61541237
You might as well try and sell it before Ryzen 3 gets released, although to be honest most people looking to buy a used Sandy Bridge want the whole PC for dirt cheap too.
Intel suicide watch coming to a head
>>61541237
Problem is Z68/Z77 mobos are quite expensive. Personally I'll just get a mobo, underclock it and give it to my parents; rather than throwing them all away.

Why would anyone buy SKL-X? If you need highest single-threaded perf, you go CFL-S. If you need threads and PCIe lanes, you go Threadripper. The only reasons that I can think of is:
1) AVX512
2) You're an idiot

>The Bottom Line: Thermalright hit it out of the park! Yes, this cooler is huge, but it looks good, performs better than most in our charts, and does so in virtual silence. It may be costly, but chart topping performance is not usually cheap, is it?
TechPowerUp
>With exceptional build quality, ultra low noise levels, and best in class performance, the Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT takes the top spot for air coolers.
PcPer
>Thermalright's Le Grand Macho RT is simply the most impressively powerful (and nearly the quietest) cooler I've tested. At the lowest fan speeds it's almost silent, and it has the capability of besting a powerful liquid cooler at the highest fan speeds - which are still ultra-quiet!
