I just graduated from high school. My parents bought me an Lenovo Laptop. It came with McAfee LifeSafe.
It is running out on its free trial. Should I keep it or go with something else? I will mostly be using this for homework and internet surfing and watching youtube and such.

Nigga just get rid of it. You don't need anything. Just use Windows Defender and if you do something questionable, run CCleaner, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, and Super Anti Spyware.

Thanks! I am going to look into both Avast and Windows Defender. You guys are lifesavers.
I don't know much about computers so GNU / Linux is a no go for me right now as I don't have time to learn how that works.

all you need is malewarebytes and windows defender. Don't click on fishy links, open weird exes or shit like that. Run malewarebytes like every month or something like that and you will be just fine.

Don't run any antivirus. Just get Hitman Pro and do a scan once in a while.
