This laptop usually is a lot more expensive than that, but these guys have positive reviews, so I'm asking, is this legit ?

If not, could you recommend a good laptop for like 500-600 dollars, something i could use for heavy photoshop usage and school

That's why it's less expensive than usual, don't buy something with less ram than many phones bro. Buy some cheap lenovo i5, 8gb ram thing

Semi related, i bought a refurb xps 15 9550( 512gb, the big battery option)for like $1100 from ebay. It was almost 50% cheaper than buying locally in my country. Got a pretty much new laptop

Are you retarded? You do realize the RAM is soldered and you can't add memory, right?

Any thinkpad E series
>>61522057
Any Thinkpad X or T model where the second digit is not a 4 (i.e. Thinkpad T440, X240 are bad) and the CPU is an Intel Core i5 or i7, with any amount of RAM. These models on paper don't support more than 8gb, but you can drop in two 8gb sticks (can be had for < $100) and they'll work fine anyway. You probably will want to buy an SSD for about $100 as well. A Thinkpad T430 can be had for about $300-400 dollars, + $200 for an SSD and RAM = $500-600. Photoshop isn't shit, it doesn't make good use of discrete GPUs, so buying anything with any kind of GPU is a waste if you don't plan on doing 3D modeling/animation or playing games.

This.
I made the mistake of buying a $1000 Asus laptop for college and that bitch died on me after 3 years.
Bought a T430 brand new the year after it was initially released for 600 bucks, and dropped in a 240 gb ssd and 8gb ram for less than 100 bucks total.
I've still got that bitch, and have done all kinds of 3D CAD stuff with proE/creo, simulation in MATLAB, it handled any games I played, including Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite, being thrown around in my backpack in uni and in my briefcase in the car and on flights now.
Have had it 4 years now and it hasn't given me any problems, plus great compatibility with linux.
Pic related, my old uni setup with Mint 17.2 for maximum comfy multitasking (dual boot with Win7 for mild gaming and modeling/sim work.
