Smartphone fixman here.
While I don´t know the technichals of all the HTC series and devices, as they are not as popular where I live, I do think their flagship series are better in the long run hardware-wise for build quality and materials used, an aluminium 1 piece case will disperse heat more effectively than a plastic one, resulting on a more durable solder on the inside and will prevent from dust and shit messing the insides (conector ports, camera lenses, audio jacks, etc) at the cost of easy user repairs. Then again, only units I´ve seen are the Htc one series and some other devices that friends cop, and also , it will rely heavily on how the manufacturer handles software and updates for the hardware.
An example of this is Apple only having to design software and the whole OS for a single """"High end"""" Flagship line, resulting in the "Just werks" and repairs only applied on broken screens and overall user stupidity.

This, LG used a similar motherboard construction on the LG G4, V10 and Nexus 5X (all SD808 phones). LG G5 and V20 don't have the same defect.

>>61494583
The difference is that literally all G4, V10 and Nexus 5X produced before a certain date will eventually bootloop because they all have the same hardware defect. It's a completely different story for the G5 and V20, it's very unlikely either will bootloop.

yes but 350 mA is quite suicidal since the charging time is something like 8 hours

but, if you sleep that much, yeah

the 1.5 A charger is fine for that battery if you can somehow dissipate the heat.

if you don't leave your phone on 100% charge like 2 hours in the wall socket, that's fine.

that also reduces the lifetime

it's called trickle charge

when the battery reaches maximum charge, rated by the cell's maximum voltage, the charge chip or the PMIC in this case sends small ... pokes of current to the battery, at maximum voltage with minimum intensity (something like a few miliamps).
otherwise, if the charger totally disconnected, even with the phone turned off, the phone's clock would drain the battery to something below 100%

>>61497750
fuck, it took me some time to find it

seems it's a "PM8926" rated at 1.5 Amp either on the usb input either on the output

it's programmable, so the output current could be max or lower, as the manufacturer did it

main issue is heat from the charge current not really current intensity. if it doesn't heat at 1.4 amp it's fine also.
a normal 5-700 mA charger should do fine

battery life is reduced by normal charge/discharge cycle

under constant high stress, such as very fast charge/discharge, constant charging, a lot of heat... both the cathode and the anode get oxide on them .. more than they would get under normal operation

lithium batteries die by filling themselves up with junk/oxide up until there's no charge to hold or conduct by lack of free material or contact.

so constantly charging it only creates a little more of oxide

And the FBI pays more than the price of the newest iPhone to unlock.

Can you guys help me with my autism?

I want a good phone with a curved back and good battery life. I'm currently using a Redmi Note 4X and as much as I love the perfect balance of decent performance with great battery life, I can't stand the way it looks in my front pocket. I carry my phone on the left front pocket of my pants and the phone it's kinda flat so it looks like I'm carrying a block of cheese or something, the bulge is too apparent even if the edges are actually more curved than other phones.

I even took out my old and fat gen 1 Moto G and that thing dissappears to the eye because of the curved back I assume. Considering I hate the look of the Moto G5 what would be a good phone to solve my first world problem?

now im not picking sides, but you see the difference between apple and android is the capitalistic advantages, in apple you get a better build quality better specs, but the thing is that they have a risk of over heating because of the idiots that abuse them and wreck them, thats the good thing about apple stores you get to bring it in but they charge you out the ass but you still get support you need, now with android i like android myself owned a few things but with them you get a good quality phone with good specs but its maintained and hardly catches on fire unless your a moron like apple users, when you break your android you pay for another one unless its samsung or lg or you go to best buy.

tldr: apple people are morons but you get to fix your phone and android users are slightly smarter and dont break there phones as much, they know when the phone is overheating or when to put it away.

Metal blocks radio transmission but is nice to hold and durable

Glass allows rf transmission and is nice to hold but is brittle and might crack if you drop it

Plastic allows rf transmission, and is durable and flexible so makes the phone more drop resistant. It has fallen out of favour with manufacturers as the 'cheap' option.

So, a longtime S7 user. Used Lineage OS on it, but I need a new one. This time I dont really want to drop too much cash on it, since I dont really need a high power phone (I only check mails, use whatsapp, no high resolution games, though fast and good looking screen for youtube and netflix is a plus). This time I only want to drop around 200 euros (german btw), have been looking at the Nokia 5. Is it really good? Stock Android is really a main selling point for me.

Or is there something else out there? The LG Stylus 2 looks pretty good too, always wanted a S-Pen.

One of the capacitive buttons on my OP3 just died. Works about half of the time. Anyone else encounter this problem?

Is this enough proof that I need a new one? Screen is still working fine, the front glass is on the top is already falling off though.

Only if you didn't use your $700 phone as a hammer.

Nah, it onlfy fell like 3 floors one time I was drunk, since then the glue (I guess?) just kept drying out. And getting a new screen in a workshop is around 200 euros where I live, so I thought getting a new phone.

...though using it as a hammer would really be a good idea.

Uhm... what's this word I'm thinking about... oh yeah... consumerism.

Go fix your phone hitler

I need a rugged phone that costs me around 200 - around 230

I want GPS and I don't want the phone to freeze

USB tethering would be nice

Sasmung Xcover4, Xcover 3 if you want to be cheap.
>>
>>61504717
>>61504741
Not him, but nice markup. I could buy it in my country (Poland) for ~160USD and I would get a reliable 2-year warranty and a 14-day 'did not like it' return not to mention only 1 day of waiting.
>>
>>61505903
But you get a superb phone for 150USD (redmi note 4). No need to spend more.

My mum can get either the LG Stylus 3 for £17/month or ZTE Blade v7 for £11/month. Which should she get?

This is the 435 version though

Moto G5+ or LG G5?
>>
>>61506539
>what's a cashback site
Basically you buy whatever you're buying through the cashback site and they pay you 4-8% back of what you paid

>That is the 435 version though
Yeah, people keep mixing up the Redmi 4X and Note 4X

>>61506543
LG has better cameras and performance, Moto has better battery life and stock android.

Hello

Should I turn my duel sim s7 edge from 6.0.1 marshmallow to nougat 7?

I flashed it back to marshmallow when I got it because I heard tales of hot phones and lagging.

pls respond

Why do you... "people" in this thread obsess over the "high end" phone-processors and mobile-gpus when phones are never going to get any tolerable games that need them and no is ever going to be stupid enough to do their computation or rendering on phones?
>>
>>61507318
I would also like to know this, every mid-high tier phone (and now most low tier phones) released since the nexus 5 performs virtually the same for what people actually use phones for.
