I got a PS2 in 2002 for my 11th birthday. I still have it and about a year ago I bought that Linux kit just for the hell of it since I play all my PS2 games in an emulator on my PC and my console was collecting dust. It was cool for a few days but with a 300MHz MIPS CPU and 32MB of RAM you can't really do anything productive.

slick comeback anon, kek
and it's fucking true. I never understood why people used to go through the trouble of OC'ing their little shitty MIPS chips 50-100+ MHz, adding 100w to the TDP, risking the motherfucker to catch on fire any minute... all just to maybe get 100 kilobytes higher throughput, lmao.
it's not even the "typical overkill... slightly autistic/nerdy... perhaps excessive/impressive" type situation... where some people go overboard to achieve at least some half-way damn decent performance gains. it's just all-around retarded and objectively dumb.

In addition to always-on lighting for public safety reasons, mall wiring (stripmall or fullsize) is invariably fucked and highly incestuous. You can't turn off some things without killing power to places you might be using, or without needing to literally cut live mains wiring. They don't bother removing the tubes either because that's extra labor and the exposed terminals could lead to intruders not thinking they're live and killing themselves.
>>61495609
>>61483988
That sounds pretty autistic anon.
>>61485723
I've done electrical in a few commercial buildings. There's some rule in the NEC about emergency lighting apparently. When we wired up their florescent lights a few of them would have to be designated emergency lights. Those lights have to be on their own breaker and apparently they can't be on a switch even if it's dedicated. Which makes the breaker to switch I guess.

it's less of a fire hazard than it would be a safety hazard if someone were to enter, trip over something because they can't see, and sue the owners of the building.
also fluorescent lights are better left on constantly than switched off every night, the contraction/expansion of the element under heat causes early failure.
