There's one thing I don't understand about private trackers, can somebody please explain:

Every bit uploaded by a seeder must also be downloaded by a leecher. That is, the net upload/download ratio of a community is always exactly 1. In public trackers this isn't a problem, some people simply have low ratios. But in a private tracker, where a minimum ratio of 1 or higher is enforced, there must be some people below 1 - you can't all be above average. Either a) people are constantly being kicked for low ratios or b) people are constantly being added in ever-increasing numbers to leech and give the previous generation positive ratios (in turn they get positive ratios from the next generation, and so on). The fact that private trackers can keep going for years with a highly selective invite system implies neither is happening. So what's going on? Are ratio bans simply a boogeyman used to scare people into seeding?

This is straight up not true. Basically every private tracker has a required ratio that starts at 0, and rises to around 0.6 as you download more (and rises more slowly if you continue seeding all your snatches)

Today A reached out to us and offered us the keys to all of APOLLO's services. A will be stepping down as SysOp of APL due to heavy real life issues that had forced him to be absent for half a year. The timing couldn't have been greater/worse, as we were ready to move everything over to our new infrastructure.

We had already purchased a new domain and new servers, but we will use them to upgrade our current setup, as you've all noticed site has been a little unstable. I know you have tons of questions, like for example will we keep APOLLO.cd or APOLLO.rip? There will be news about that within the month.

In other news, SysOp X has also stepped down, due to shortage of time. In the coming weeks you will notice a lot of new faces on the developer side and we are really looking forward to get this ship on the right course.

PS. SSL tracker has been fixed and so has the email server. Get ready for a lot of other stuff getting fixed.

Are generalized private trackers all shit or what? I joined GFT thinking it would work well as a safety net for the rare occasions when I need something that falls in one of my other trackers, but it seems kind of useless.
