What's the best RSS feed reader?

i like rssowl (http://www.rssowl.org/) because it's foss, cross platform, has a barebones browser integrated, and just gets the job done. i use it in win 7 and ubuntu xenial with no issues under either platform, and 3 dozen or so feeds i check regularly.

eh. it's not like all browsers don't sandbox or completely disable java now.
Can someone explain rss for me? I have seen it in many websites but don't know what it's for or how it's used

Let's say you write a new article, publish a new page, post a new video, etc. regularly. Visitors would have to check your site every day to see whether the new content is available and then navigate to it from there. What if you could set up a little file that just contains code, and it logs every new piece of content you publish? People with special software could use the address of that little file to keep an eye on that log. Every time a new thing gets added to the log, their software will let them know. They can also scroll through the log to look at past content without having to keep loading old pages of your website.
That's RSS.

It brings the website to you. Not completely but what they have set up in their feed.
Still using Feeddemon, and I actually use it to read /g/ most of the time.
