Been having a lot of trouble with old school runescape.
RS3 is fine, so the issue has me fucked.
Getting a "Login limit exceeded"/"too many logins from this address" error.
I've flushed my DNS and reset TPC/IP.
Jagex is no help on the issue, despite this affecting many users.
My next step is running it in a VM, but I'd rather not for ease of use.
Being in Aus makes me think they've cocked something up with ports with the NBN upgrades happening. Or it's just coincidence that there's another 50odd people playing in my small shithole of a town.
I have trouble reaching some sites regularly, but others are fine in the same time.
Even loading google can take forever.
I'm on a non static IP. Would swapping to a static be a potential fix? Or have I overlooked something.

I think that trouble reaching sites may be a different issue entirely.

FUCK

literally all I want
all I want

is some kind of utility that lets me manually scrobble a song from the command line.

if you know of such a programme please redbull me

literally everything I've downloaded (some python shit, some ruby shit, some bash shit--lots of shit) uses the deprecated API or refuses to work (always the same error no. 13: suggesting something changed on last.fm's end)

I've even tried writing my own script using the API but I also get the same error no. 13 about invalid submission hashes.

there's this site that works fine, so there's definitely a way to do it:
http://universalscrobbler.com/bulk.php?_ts=0.58066700%201500536036

but I don't know how to delve through all that nu-male javascript shit to find the code I'm looking for

Yes. Typical USB keys have a finite number or writes before they go bad. SanDisk have a ssd in thumb format, suited for OS typical memory access

You have a couple of options.
1. echo songname >> songs
2. vi songs (then type in the song you listened to)
Doing this you now have a list of the songs you have listened to.

Not quite what you want but I just write stuff to mpdscribble's journal file, restart it and let us handle scrobbling.

There's 10+ threads on this issue in the RS forums. Jagex is renown for doing jack, or when they do something 100,000 players quit.
Thought I'd ask here as you guys are kind of the demographic to play it.

keep in mind WSL (ubuntu on windows) does NOT use linux, it uses it's own linux-like implementation that shares no code with linux
it only supports usermode applications (no drivers, such as virtualbox host drivers), and not everything is implemented (i doubt it supports linux's KVM for accellerated QEMU usage, either)

you might be able to run windows under QEMU under ubuntu for windows, unaccellerated, but it will be slow as balls

>>
>>61471937
What? gigabit is ~128MB/s
Speed limit of 3.0 is higher so here the drive speed really matters. 5400RPM will be slower.
>>61471891
Run a write/read speed test. I'd guess ~45MB/s.
>>
>>61472000
That's assuming the fiber is gigabit. Most connections are less than 1/20 of that
>>
>>61471937
I see.
So there's no point in having a fiber connection if my drives can't even take advantage of it. I wonder if using RAID would help, since the load would be spread over a dozen HDDs

>>61472019
Nah it's definitely gigabit. I've done speed tests and they've always come back at around 970~985

>I wonder if using RAID would help, since the load would be spread over a dozen HDDs
Yes, correct RAID would help
>>

>>
>>61472049

How do I install home brew in Mac from a guest account
>>
>>61472093
Well knock yourself out, but unless you do some serious hosting type shit there's not going to be much practical benefit over 100mbps. I mean yes, you can seed like a motherfucker if your ISP doesn't care, but that's the kind of thing they usually do care about. I just wouldn't spend a shitton extra for gigabit.
>>
>>61472161
>I just wouldn't spend a shitton extra for gigabit.
I'm only paying $70 for it.

>unless you do some serious hosting type shit there's not going to be much practical benefit over 100mbps.
Well, I do a ton of downloading because I'm a hoarder. The first day I got fiber I downloaded about 300GB. Considering I have 30TB, I definitely have a use for it outside of hosting.

Just graduated and have been looking for something super entry level IT related the past 6 months and am getting btfo in interviews by kids who all have done a bunch of internships. Should I lie on my resume? I have a buddy at a company who is willing to say I was his assistant for a sales internship. It might not be super helpful but I just got word I didn't get a job at another company because one of the other candidates had done a marketing co-op so they went with him over me.

What is the best music streaming service?

What I'm looking for in a music streaming service is quantity of selection of outside of U.S. discography, sound quality, ability to upload or add or match your own music to the program's or service's (hate how this feature is implemented in Spotify), and ease-of-use/customer support/customer care. I have tried iTunes/Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Amazon Prime Music. Never paid for Pandora or iHeart Radio as I like to be able to choose the exact song I want to listen to. Going to see if there is a free trial for Tidal and test that, I guess it's apeal is it's quality of sound.

Tidal is dead/dying. Apple's gonna make their offering a success if it kills them. You're going to be disappointed with selection after spotify. They're the ones with enough momentum to force the contracts. Unfortunately that doesn't leave you with a lot of good options.
>>

tl;dr: yes

After I graduated, it took me fucking almost 2 years for me to finally land a steady job in IT. I lied on my resume too, I added some more schools on it plus over-exaggerated shitty job on it. Be creative but also make it believable. I'm lucky that in my country they wont do background checks on if what you wrote down is actually true or not, also sign up for job recruiters, they help you out a lot.

I really need to get the notifications to play through aux, is there anyway to do it?

I've tried SoundAbout but that shit not only failed to work but crashed on me within minutes.

I tried /wsr/ but no help there, think it is slow right now. I come to beg for help, I have no idea what is going on with my wifi. Please take mercy on me and give advice. I live in the country and do not have much choice of wifi. Suddenlink unlimited 100mbps. I have the modem supplied by the cable company and a Netgear router. I had two TP-Link extenders (house is old and large). When the extenders are plugged in my iMAC will not connect to the internet at all. My google pixel phone says wifi connected no internet. My Roku TV and kids iPads fight to connect and end up only being able to use one device. I have Sling TV and the kids watch YouTube, they do not really game yet aside from minecraft and Roblox (oldest only 9). When the extenders were taken out my pixel now cannot find wifi at all, nothing it won't even show any routers in the neighborhood. I am not very good with computers so I don't know if I supplied al the necessary information. What have I done what do I need to do? PLEASE HELP!!!

okay I hope my masterpiece of art suffices for the explanation...
there's obviously more than one psu here, that's why the distributors are there...

the case this is going in will need a bit of ventilation... now I have no idea how to go about that...
so what sort of fans are there that I could possibly use here and how would I go about wiring it up ?
I can't just hook some fans right onto the power socket right ?
oh and some sort of fan controller would be amazing as well but I guess in the worst case I could just integrate a switch in it's place to turn it on and off at least....

help much appreciated
thank you

I've already made a thread about it yesterday, but it only got one reply before I went to bad, so let me try here. I've bought a monitor, a 27 inch 1440p/165Hz IPS panel by AOC, and it has some backlight bleed. Most IPS do, supposedly, the question is - how much is too much? Should I return this one while I can and hope the other one will have less BLB? Should I try the popular "credit card fix", where you shove a credit card between the bezel and the panel and kind of move it there, and if it makes it worse just return the panel? I like the model because it's cheap for the specs, actually I don't think I can even find another model here that has both IPS matrix and high refresh rate.

yea, keep in mind dvd is now a 20 year old format
not sure if it was the first with "softsubs", but it was certainly an early one, older formats had required subtitles burned in, as there was no softsub support at all (such as VHS or VCD)
so just be glad you *can* remove them or place them over another video source

there are tools to convert them to srt, but it is via OCR, so ymmv, the results might have issues that need hand-adjustment, if it's just for personal use, i would just leave them alone and use the dvd subtitles directly

NVMe is a logical interface specification for accessing NVRAM over PCI-E
M.2 is a physical device form-factor which includes PCI-E lanes

>>61476356
Wish it had a 940 for graphics
>>
>>61476369
yes, seeding something (by leaving your client going after you reach 100%) is how torrents work
it's how you're downloading it, you're downloading from other people who are seeding
if nobody seeded after they reached 100%, you would be unable to download the entire torrent, as nobody has the whole thing (in some cases it may be possible however, for example, if one person has the first 50% and another has the second 50%, then 100% is "available")
>>
>>61476403
I did see an acer with some more storage and a 940 for a bit less money, but it apparantely has a shit trackpad and I fucking despise plastic frames and shitty TN panels. I'm probably not going to game on it anyway so it's not like it's a dealbreaker for me.
>>
>>61476424
>>61476369
also note that you don't need to run it continuously if it's a problem for you
even just having it open say, during the day, if you'd prefer your machine off overnight, is fine as well
people who really want to download that torrent will be leaving there machine on as often as they can, and will catch you when you're online to download from you
many a time have i managed to download something that looked dead, but simply had seeds that were only on every so often. it's better than nothing.
>>
>>61476378
Also, 2 SPDIF outputs are showing up instead of one.
>>
>>61476502
Ok thanks, but what happens if you want to delete the software that you torrented from your computer? Do you have to wait until it's fully seeded?
>>
>>61476621
obviously, you can't seed if you delete the files
there's also no such thing as "fully seeded", you can seed forever
a ratio of 1 (or "1:1") simply means you've uploaded the same amount of data as you downloaded, you can upload the entire torrent many times over, to different people
you can technically remove the torrent and the data the moment you've finished downloading, but this hurts the torrent, if everyone did this, the torrent would die out very quickly. a torrent only stays alive so long as people are seeding it, just keep that in mind when you want to download a torrent, you can only download it if someone else has decided to seed it, you are that person when you seed it.

Save that 4k and put it towards something other then your computer. The speeds dont really matter that much, outside of benchamrks.2400 is well fast enough.

most routers can handle that just fine, just look at the openwrt supported hardware list and pick something you like/is available/is in your budget
just check how much memory it's got, if it's something tiny like say <32M, it might struggle, if it's got little storage sapce, then you might also want something with a usb port to plug in a flash drive on which you can store your captive portal page data

How can I convince my gf to let me put 16gb of ram up her arse? She's being such a prude about the whole thing. Earlier this year I half choked her to death with a 3.5mm line in cable and she was fine with that. Now we move onto the internals and she gets all squeemish. Geez.

best java/c++ tutorials nowadays?

i just finished sololearn for java and while they touched on a lot of big ideas (polymorphism, abstract classes, inner classes, etc) i didnt feel like they explained why it would ever be used well enough. looking for books or tutorials that talk about when in real life youd actually use that shit

After one year of using GNU/Linux on my Memepad for university CS stuff i finally want to install it on my desktop pc at home to double boot alongside Windows 10 ®

The hard part is choosing a distribution
I was playing with the thought on installing fedora but i read in another thread that a lot of anons had issues with it regarding software repositories, font rendering and overall stability
I know i could just install a VM and try it out myself (and i will certainly do it) but i want to shrink the sheer amount of distros to install by asking about recommendations

>inb4 install gentoo
I don't have the time and motivation to compile my new OS so thank you

Fedora is disgusting, dont even bother installing a vm lol.
Just install Debian. It just works.

When I had both installed it opened firefox and now I uninstalled firefox it opens nothing. I copied the MimeType from the firefox desktop file to icecat.desktop and added "x-scheme-handler/http=icecat.desktop" and "x-scheme-handler/https=icecat.desktop" to mimeinfo.cache. What am I doing wrong?

I'm planning on migrating to Linux from Windows 7. So far, most of my time on the computer is playing videogames, producing music, and lurking on some boards on 4chan. From what I've heard, Linux offers more user freedom and is considered better than Windows. I don't know if this is related, but people usually recommend Linux if you're planning on getting a computer-related career.

My only biggest concern is transferring my files onto Linux without having to downloading them again because my internet speed goes up to 264kb/s at max.

Basically, should I stick with Windows 7 instead of Linux due to me mostly playing videogames, making music, and doing other stuff?
>>
>>61478756
Yes
>>
>>61478756
Linux is completely useless if you play vidya.
Dual boots are a thing btw
>>
>>61478795
no it fucking isn't useless, we have tonnes of vidya on linux, just need to know where to look and you need actual taste in vidya (which you may not have)

I heard Wine and Playonlinux usually fixes that problem.

After some messing around it only happens if adding any subtitle file to an mkv with embedded softsubs.
Fucking strange.
>>
>>61478817
that isnt true at all lmao

playonlinux is just a "user friendly" implementation of WINE. it uses WINE so it has no more compatibility than simple WINE does

basically 1% of popular games will work and they will most likely suffer bad fps drops. when people say gaming is ok on linux theyre talking about 5+ year old games and even then if they werent extremely popular no one will spend time making the compatibility patches. basically youre stuck with hearthstone, WoW, and a bunch of very very old games no one cares about

there are games on steam that are directly compatible with linux but again those are few and far between and mostly games that no one cares about

PoL isn't an implementation of Wine, it's a frontend, it's main purpose is prefix management, scripted installs, and a launcher
programs are run purely with Wine alone
