My mobo is dying, I have a 3570k.
Should I wait for Coffeelake, or buy Ryzen/Kaby Lake?
Budget is $300, I have access to a Microcenter.
I would not wait coffeelake ,to me seems a slight improvement like from sky and kaby, they talk about 15% but it will be less than that like the last time, right now I will buy a ryzen even if I am not an amd fan but is good and cheap

just buy a used motherboard off of craigslist...

I don't wanna go through the effort of redoing my cable management if there's no upgrade involved.
ryzen + mobo combo from microcenter
would have gotten it from my local one had they had a taichi in stock when i was buying my shit.
You can still buy LGA1155 boards off Amazon for pretty cheap.

>redoing cable management
Your cable layout shouldn't change all that much.

Will I see decent single threaded performance improve from Ivy Bridge to Ryzen?
I emulate a lot.

it won't be that much of an improvement single thread, but overall performance will be much better. Also same guy that recommended motherboard off craigslist. It's the same exact generation dude, cables won't change at all.

He's just trying to convince himself that he NEEDS to upgrade.

You don't need cable management and there's also practically no upgrade involved if you buy a "new'' CPU/MoBo/RAM set.
Just get that Mobo and you're good for quite a while.
