It's right there.

Does anyone even use that besides this one autistic person?

>album art
There's scripts for that that are pretty easy to set up, but seriously though why not use an actual music player (as in a program actually designed for playing music)?
>>
>>61467389
I'm on Linux, so this might not work the same in Windows but you should be able to change the volume with the mouse wheel if you hold the mouse pointer over the speaker icon while spinning it.

Me again, if you want the mouse wheel to change the volume by default then you can set that directly in the input.conf file. It looks super easy to do according to the sample input.conf.

>>61467454
Do it. The problem doesn't seem to be in making them but in maintaining them.

Baka-MPlayer and Bomi were both great but now they are both abandoned (though I saw a mysterious git message saying that the Baka-MPlayer guys were working on something big behind the scenes).

So on windows is setting hwdec to auto bad vs just using software rendering? As in are some settings only usable in software mode?

Message from February talking about this in more detail:

The most recent information I could find on it:
https://github.com/u8sand/Baka-MPlayer/issues/259

tl;dr:
>Baka-MPlayer is being refactored into Mochi-Player.
>Mochi-Player compiles and has more features than Baka-MPlayer, but was(is?) more buggy than Baka-MPlayer.
>Once Mochi-Player has an actual release, users of Baka-MPlayer "will be notified" through the website.
>Development is slow as the developers are busy.

Seems they're working in the development branch here:
https://github.com/mochi-player/mochi-player/tree/develop

and TODOs
https://github.com/mochi-player/mochi-player/projects/1
>Migration from Baka-MPlayer. While not too many major aspects are left, a large amount of minor ui glitches are present that need to be hammered out along with testing on Windows and Mac OSes.

From June 18th
>While I don't have a timeline yet, I can tell you that there really isn't an overwhelming amount to be done. Many of the Major TODO parts are done and just need testing and the Minor TODO things might take from a few minutes to an hour.

Anyone wanna try compiling it?

CPU load tells you nothing about the bottleneck

The real way to check would be with
ffmpeg -i FILE -map 0:v:0 -f null -frames 1000 /dev/null

On that kpKSevtotLg video I get 160 fps (5.34x speed) over this 1000 frame average, with around 20% CPU usage.
On the iNJdPyoqt8U sample I get 150 fps (4.99x speed) with around 31% CPU usage.
On something like the Sony 4K HDR clip I get 81 fps (1.35x speed) with 40% CPU usage.

Thanks!

Seems that on my hardware (Linux + GTX 650 + i5-6600K) cuda>opengl>vdpau for hwdec.

I get this strange error if I use :
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczos

with:
video-sync=display-resample
interpolation
tscale=oversample

After a while of playback the audio will cut out for a split second. The first time takes at least 10 minutes to happen but afterwards the cutting out repeats about each minute. I expected to see a bunch of dropped frames or something red/yellow leading up to this audio stuff but I'm not seeing anything. Does anyone have any ideas?
>>
>>61472072
Have you checked the logs? Does it still happen with video-sync=display-desync?

>cuda>opengl>vdpau for hwdec.
There's no such thing as opengl hwdec. Also be careful with cuda, it likes to produce corrupt timestamps (leading to duplicated / flashing frames)
>>
>>61472024
Then it's a CPU bottleneck, 0.6x speed, and ~50% CPU usage. But this video plays fine in Win 10 native video player, with ~90% CPU usage.

No... You create empty text file and rename it to mpv.conf (.conf is extension, not name). You put in it
profile=opengl-hq
video-sync=display-resample
and
opengl-shaders="~~/shaders/SSimSuperRes.glsl"
. Put conf file into mpv folder. The shader file should be in "shaders" folder inside mpv folder.

Now this is a proper helpful comment.

profile=opengl-hq
video-sync=display-resample

I have both these enabled.

I'll make a mpv folder inside the mpv folder then?
Because now the mpv.conf and input.conf is in the folder where mpv.exe is and the inputs and interpolation works without it being in \mpv\mpv\
>>
>>61473529

It definitely doesn't, you just need to point to the correct folder with the shaders option.

I do glance over at this thread from time to time in amusement. I mean, how desperate do you have to be to accuse everyone who comes in with an issue with mpv to be someone who doesn't even use the player?
I'm an encoder. I use MPC-HC because I actually need something usable. A hobbyist player won't do. I can't be mucking about in a 200 page manual and editing text files whenever I need to change settings.
If mpv is suffering from wm4's inability to count, that's hilarious, but it has nothing to do with me. I don't even use playlists.

We don't advance by hiding our flaws. A major problem in the freetard community is their reliance on the, "You don't need to do that" excuse. They want to argue that their crapware is "the best" even though it can't do basic shit that every other piece of software can do, and they further shield themselves from criticism with, "It's free as in freedom! It seems you have a severe misunderstanding of how the FOSS community works. FOSS is not a user culture, it's a developer culture. “You don't need to do that” is code for “I don't need to do that”. And “Implement it yourself” is code for “I don't care about this feature”.

Unless somebody with the ability to program cares about your feature, it won't get implemented. No matter how many bug trackers you spam. The whole whining and crying approach doesn't work in the FOSS world the way it does in the world of companies who are slaves to their users (for revenue). It's as simple as that. If you care that strongly about something, implement the code. And implement it well, or it'll get rejected. Otherwise, feel free to fuck off, because your problems are not Our Problems(tm).

>>
>>61477505
Sure, but this is out of the sheer benevolence of the developer for the plight of the user. There is no power exchange going on. I should know, I write lots of FOSS and have often implement features that my users ask for even if I do not use them myself. Usually this falls into one of three categories:

1. The feature is easy to implement and harmless, so why not
2. The feature makes sense, and so implement it would improve my program
3. Implementing this feature would be an interesting challenge, and I feel like it
4. It's been something I wanted to write anyway, so another user asking for it gives me an excuse to get around to implementing it

But this is an entirely voluntary process. If a developer chooses to reject a feature (e.g. due to technical reasons), that usually weighs more strongly in the FOSS world - and especially for mpv, which pretty much hates its users.

>WAAAH PROPRIETARY IS EVIL EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FOSS!
You've just shown why it shouldn't. The point fo software is to do work. It's the users who do work. A hobbyist project that only fits the developer's autism isn't very useful.
Good FOSS projects recognize that the very point is the user. MPC-HC is one of these which is why it has linked mkv support.

No, it's true. I'm not the linked mkv faggot. Go lurk in the #mpv-devel channel for a while or something and listen to such gems like

17:11 <avih> the complexity is only a benchmark as far as maintenance goes though. users could have other metrics to judge software..

Nah, I'm saying if you aren't a developer you shouldn't expect other developers to cater to your specific needs. If your feature request makes sense and a developer feels like it, it will be implemented. If it does not or nobody wants to, tough luck.

Why do developers lack objectivity about that process? They still incessantly shill, "MUH SOFTWARE IS THE BESTEST EVER" while rejecting improvements. Some fucking honesty would be nice.
>>
>>61477805
But nothing has been rejected, it's just that developers don't care enough about this particular 'feature" to implement it.

This is only a problem in GNOME land. Outside of GNOME land, most developers hate their own software the most.

In the case of linked mkvs it was literally rejected, with reasons given.

Kuchikirukia did not like those reasons, and proceeded to go apeshit and create a bunch of github accounts to spam the bug tracker. (Which led to him getting banned from github)

>>61477745
Speaking of contradictions, how do you live with the fact that your player of choice was made by people who were not confident in their code, so much so that they had to open source it?
>>
>>61477895
Try --vo=x11. But you won't get very good results. Apart from that, just use --vo=opengl with no other options. That will basically put an absolute minimum amount of load on your GPU, shouldn't affect your hash rates.

Here's the typical FOSStard scenario:
Hey, this feature that is very basic and important doesn't work.
Then fork it

I don't know hot to code
tough luck

Don't you want this program to be what you claim it to be? That is, better than the program you trash talk for being closed source because you whine that if the developer stops developing said program the whole thing gets lost while FOSS can survive through people further developing it?
Not my problem, deal with it or code it yourself

Okay, I learned how to code, and also got what I wanted to work, as well as features I saw others had problems with, but since I now know how to code I suddenly became an elitist FOSStard that rather keep my code to myself instead of sharing it... I mean spoonfeeding it. It's totally different to the whole closed source where the dev stops developing it and the code is lost because it's not FOSS. Totally no the same, not at all.
How did you fix it then, because I can't find any documents on github

I didn't put it there, it's on my machine and it's gonna stay there forever, deal with it oldfagFOSStard, I'll make my own player and it'll work well because I now know how to make the whole program work and it's already working better than your FOSS program, and I also get money for doing it, and I hired a bunch of guys to develop branching features.

There you have it.
The difference between open source and closed source.
