Nobody uses iMessage outside the US and I believe Japan. Rest of the world uses WhatsApp, and China uses WeChat so the Chinese government can track them easier.

It's a shame really, I wanted iMessage to really take off. Now that WhatsApp supports GIF there's less of a reason to use it. Originally I had converted my family to iMessage but they no longer give a fuck.
