I just got a message from a porn bot. On a PS3. Why do people write this for such an old system? Inst that a hell lot of work?

Are you sure it's actually a bot?
Manual labor in China and India is cheap. Just saying.
A few years ago I was tasked with coming up with a better captcha system for a medium-sized website which had problems with spam. They had tried switching systems several times but each time the "bots" kept on posting spam. I turns out that the reason it was defeated so consistently and quickly was that it was actually humans doing it.

Does it matter that much?

What's the endgame for these kind of messages?
I remember when I used to use a tinder-like website I would occasionally get Chinese "girls" adding me using model pictures and explaining that they could not use the website we were currently on and instead I needed to move to their website so we could get to know each other.
Amazing that it must work on some people.

Shotgun dating. Write the same message to a lot of people. 1-10% probably give an intelligible, positive reply. For those I guess they have a set of stock phrases until 'send me bitcoins'.
