Moving away from the botnet, what is a nice looking well made distro.
I have Ubuntu installed on my second drive but it feels very limited and child-proofed
>>61447522
well what is it you want most from your distro?
>>61447693
Typically web browsing and development

use one of the /linux/ threads next

Havent used it, but seems nice. I've heard it's nicely maintained like ubuntu, but has less training wheels.
Debian/Arch
Learn how to make you own DE and have it just as you like it!
Antergos
Arch but less retarded
OpenSuse
usual semi-bare linux, but has this thing called YaST, which let's you do all kinds of crazy linux guru things with the ease of pressing a few buttons in a menu. Good if you're used to windows I guess
Parabola
Arch: freetard edition
I have been using arch linux since december and have had minimal problems. It's rather nice. I wanna try Solus out, but I love my arch setup atm. Maybe I'll give it a go on my desktop. Good luck with your linux adventures!!

well Fedora is known for focusing on dev tools.
but if your complaint is "feels childproofed" you might just need a different DE.

Linux Mint or TempleOS
>>61447522
Mint might be a better transistion for you. I don't like the de of ubuntu coming from a dos/windows background. Too much like a phone.

How about manjaro?

Only answer is gentoo.

If you're afraid of botnet you need to avoid systemd.
Any distro can look however you want

It's not. Learn how to use a terminal and lose reliance on a DE and GUIs in general.

Buy a Mac, Windows users are usually not very smart for Linux because Linux requires some background knowledge of UNIX systems and CLI. The Ubuntu and Arch communities are already full of retards, there's no need for another one.
