Is it worth upgrading my stock CPU cooler to this Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO? Also looking at the Hyper H103. Not running an OC.
Upgrading the cooling system is always worth if you look forward to use the cpu for a very long - 5+ years - time.Higher average temperature decreases lifetime. However if you plan to upgrade the cpu once in 1-2 years there is no real worth you get from better cooling.

If your stock cooler is doing fine then there's no reason to buy new one, unless you need to spend money to fill the void that is your life

From AMD's old stock coolers? Definitely yes
From Intel's stock coolers? Maybe
From AMD's current stock coolers? No

I'd switch.
Don't run stock cooler unlike what >>61416857 says.
Using a better cooler isn't just for overclocking, it's for having a cooler that don't need to rape your ears when your CPU goes above 1% usage.

I did that on a skylake and the difference is noticeable. If you are stingy on temps, go for it.

I had an old model AMD stock cooler, one of the ones that sounded like a jet engine, but not the worst one
I bought an hyper tx3 evo and my temperatures dropped 15°C under load (reached the low 70's easily before), I overclocked my cpu (a8-6600k) to 4.4GHz and my temps never go above 62°C
It's a pretty good cooler, but I don't recommend using it on anything with more than 100W tdp

yes

a quiet cooler is a quiet cooler, especially important if you only have SSD and like quiet

I'm using it on my old sandy, i7 2600. 25c less compared to stock cooler, noise is much much better, which is what I was concerned about. added a second 92mm fan running at constant 500rpm, temps max out at 55c with 100% usage
go for something better if you have to overclock though

My sister's pc has an amd 860k and the stock amd heat pipe cooler was loud as shit. I slapped the hyper 103 on it and it's pretty much silent while providing much lower temps. The blue light also matched the blue led on the power button. Totally worth it.
