How come gtx 400-500 and HD5000-6000 didn't get vulkan and dx12 support? They seemed to work well enough on dx11?
Was it a hardware limitation? Or just a lack of support to motivate people to upgrade and buy new cards?
It's 2017 man. A GTX 400 or hd5000 is not usable for any modern dx12 game, even in the lowest settings

Yes it is even at 1080p. Low-medium would be fine.
Vulkan too btw.

My setup:
Intel [email protected]
>HD 5450@700Mhz & 650MHz RAM
4gb 1600MHz RAM
Lowest settings:
GTA 5 = Wont run at all
Hitman Absolution = 8-10 fps
Minecraft = 15-20 fps
Rocket League = 25-30 fps
Source engine games (CS:GO, TF2, GMOD, ETC.) = 50-60 fps
This is why.

>HD5450
Found your problem senpai.
>>61405112
their biggest limitations is lack of vram
Fermi just got DX12 support actually. Runs like shit but playable is better than nothing.
>>61405010
quit niggerposting and whoreposting there are no goyim here
>>61405010
it feels like a comercial strategy but maybe its related to low or odd vram configs, like hd570 being 1280MB
>>61405010
they lack asynchronous shading
they're old as fuck and not popular anymore
too weak to really take advantage of DX12 anyway
>>61407503
No shit, retard.
I was showing that the HD5xxx series is shit and cant run games well.
>>61411771
>the $80 prebuilt tier 5450 is representative of anything
lol
>>61408946
I know but my HD5870 still manages gta v with a consistent 60fps, most settings on low but a few turned up.
>>61407306
>The lowest card in the lineup represents the performance of every card from that generation
The fuck is wrong with you?
>>61412464
nigga, its representing itself as a HD 5xxx series card.

nVidia said publicly (though I can't think of a concrete link to source) that Fermi supports all the hardware features required for Vulkan, so for its part it's some kind of business decision. I don't know whether it's just that they can't be bothered or that they want people to upgrade.
I don't know about the Radeon cards, but they aren't GCN, so they may well lack hardware support.
