I guess I don't understand networking because I cant figure out why my ping has been around 110-220ms for speedtest and all of my video games.

the entire house is having internet problems, the phone appears to be suffering too but I'm not sure about that.

Ive done all the braindead idiot stuff like unplugging router, restart computer, close all background applications. I tried "ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew", I tried "ping -n 30 -l 1000 (routeripadress)" and it returned 30/30 packets sent/received and 0ms round trip time.

What more can be done? I'm at a loss.

Not reliably. When you turn it back on and root it, you can use some undelete tools to search the nand. But the process of setting it up is going to overwrite a ton of data.

A professional lab might have a better shot by disassembling it, removing the flash chips, and reading it directly.

Hi, I used
 update-rc.d -f mysql disable
to stop mysql from starting at boot. Or atleast thats what I thought it does. However mysql still gets started, with the status file in /proc saying that it's PPID is 1. Did I misunderstand what update-rc.d is supposed to do?
There are still symlinks (called K02mysql) to the mysql script in the rc directories.
What did I do wrong?

I repeat the steps I did for flashing the first ROM in (AOKP) = launch TWRP in recovery, do the default wipe, flash rom and GApps?
>>

yep
install/run twrp, wipe cache & data (as it's most likely an incompatible rom), then install the lineageos zip, adding gapps and addonsu if you like (addonsu adds root support, it's in the extras section of the lineageos downloads page)
you can upgrade nightlies without wiping anything, just remember to add gapps/other zips each time you do, as it does entirely replace the contents of /system

It probably does, I'm currently running regular Firefox, I didn't even know Firefox ESR was a thing.
Modern versions of Firefox, Chrome etc. run poorly, I was hoping there was something as light as the older vesrions that still receives updates.

>What do you use it for then?
It still perfectly usable for 4chan and reading stuff on, the 4:3 display and the keyboard are very nice and it still has perfectly good battery life, I'm talking about an old ThinkPad T42.

You had your password written down somewhere didn't you.

Also you can fool the keylogger easily by not typing your password directly but if your password is, say "password" then you write "sw", click in the middle, type "s", then click before the first "s" and type "pa", and behind the w and type "ord".

In my understanding, using a resistor that is too high will (almost) never destroy stuff. Might just not work. Think about it like that: If you have your device unplugged and the your source of voltage lying next to it, its the same as a really, really big resistor (the air [has terrible conductivity]) between them.

Writing your password down and keeping it on a piece of paper is not that insecure anyways.
If you don't encrypt your hard drive and someone gets physical access to your machine you are fucked anyways.
It's way better than using the same password everywhere or using a weak password so you can remember it better.

So I just got gifted a Kindle Fire. I have a few issues.

First, during set up, it asks me if I am my mother (She's the one who got it for me). Now, I already sort of share an amazon account with her since I am lazy, she has Prime, and I don't really buy a lot of shit anyway (plus, I use her amazon account for my Audible subscription). But I am worried about my privacy if I do that - I love my mom, and I visit her often, but I am not comfortable with her being able to go and see what I may be doing on my Kindle at 3am before I go to work, kek. Is that a possibility? Should I set up on my own Amazon account? If so, can I move my Audible books from hers to my new one?

Also, any tips/info for using Kindle Fire? Stuff I should disable, download, ect?

I'm quite out of date when it comes to tablets, I've always prefered a laptop for when I'm outdoors, but I'll be travelling abroad next month and I'll probably have to get one, but I need to know a couple things about them.

The only basics I'll be looking for in a tablet will be that it reads standard video files like .mkv and .mp4, as well as e-book type files like .cbr, .pdf and .txt

What type of model should I be looking for exactly? I preferably would prefer something that doesn't has a completely ridiculous storage space, or that it can at least be expanded via cards.

how is the better way to learn a new programming language? I know the basics but I have never learned deeply one language, and never made any major projects. (lets say I am midterm, not complete beginner but in no way a good programmer, so to get through a "regular" programming book is almost always way to slow and I already know most of the stuff [at least in theory], so I get frustrated and give up reading the book/programming)

lets say I am at pajeet-code-monkey level, is it fine if I did this?
>learn the actual language basically through practice, not reading the whole book (maybe specific parts I don't understand), looking up what I don't know (doing codewars or clash of code or doing whole projects) and separately read books focused on algorithms and data structures instead of a book about a specific language

if I start doing this above, I plan on reading the 3 books on pic related, in order.

good idea, bad idea?

Just saying. Maybe your soldering break with the movement going through the cable or whatever. Maybe you could just check or redo the soldering to see if it was just that. Everybody has bad days.
>>
>>61391800

I'd say yes.
If you don't know syntax or other special language features, you can just look them up or will eventually stumble over them when looking other stuff up.
If you don't know an algorithm(-concept) however, you will just end up programming it in a bad way and won't know why it's shit.
But I'm just a freshman CS student who doesn't really care about programming that much, so don't take my word for it.

switch(event.type)
{
case sf::Event::Closed:
window.close();
return 0;
break;

case sf::Event::KeyPressed:
break;

default:
break;
}
}

window.clear();
window.draw(sprite);
window.draw(shape);
window.display();

}
[/CODE]

How i can fix this error?
>>
>>61391800
Bad idea when you don't know many languages well. You won't discover new features of the language, you will try to stick with what you know and end up with bad workarounds and ugly code. If you knew well some similar programming languages, you could just check out major features and look up the syntax for the stuff you know from other languages.

I do think that learning algorithms and data structures is more important though, so you could learn just the basics of a language while going through these books and go deeper into the language later.

What happened to Anti Adblock Killer? There's some continued project, but did Google finally buy out the original dev?

thats a little reassuring, but in this case when it DOES load its only partially with some firefox buttons not operational and stuff, like something real bad happened
and i cant get it to 'heal' without closing and trying loading again (which tends to result in what ive just described)
ill try restarting my laptop i guess

Code clarity. Not getting made fun of by your peers or fired.

You'll never avoid that though.

Probably yes. It won't look as pretty probably, because all your drivers don't work for the other computers hardware, but it should probably boot.
If you don't know how to recover files from a system that you can't boot into however, I would highly suggest backupping your shit beforehand.

I avoid it pretty well. You might not avoid it though.

You can move a BIOS install to UEFI, but it's more effort than it's worth IMO.

I'm thinking about changing my OS, currently using Windows 10, but it's just pure utter dog shit. Was thinking about installing Arch, but I don't know much about linux. If I want to use XFCE, do I have to use some DM in specific? Can I use any I'd like? If possible, what do you fags recommend?

Also, I installed Arch before, but something was messed, and I believe it was something about having installed Cinammon with GDM, but I don't really know. I think the problem was that Arch recognised two monitors, even though I have only one and the one I have was the secondary. So, everything opened at a display that didn't exist and I didn't find any answer in the internet about it.
