As someone whos used both iOS and Android, the apps are essentially the same thing. They are not "WAY better designed"
Android apps are slightly heavier (since objective c is faster than java, although) the push toward swift has been bad for ios app performance) but the Linux kernel is a much better kernel than Apple's mach shit for performance (98/100 super computers use linux, because kernel devs focus on performance) so speed wise it balances out. Yes some manifacturers put bloated UIs on their android, but it has improved a lot over the years.
Even back in the days when android manufacturers had more bloated interfaces, the freedom you get with android made it worth it over being tied into apples anti-freedom ecosystem by design.

The reason Android is so full of shitty apps is because there are high-end Android devices, but there are also low-end Android devices. When programming an app, you need to focus on making as much money as possible, and this means making sure your app works perfectly on as many Android devices as possible. Think of India, for example. Virtually everyone in India has a shitty, $15 Android phone. If you don't design your app to work well enough on those shitty $15 Android phones, you're basically forfeiting India altogether. India is one of the most populated countries on the planet. You're losing so much money by ignoring them.

tl;dr: The reason your $800+ Android phone is such a bitch to use is because your neighbor is a poorfag and it's destroying Android. You have to deal with shitty apps just because of that.

It has a 5.5 inch OLED display while iTurds are stuck on low resolution, washed out trash. iTurds still have piss poor battery life and piss poor call reception. I can afford to go and buy one right this moment as a fucking impulse purchase, but I don't want one.

I don't like my apps being "organized" in a shitty ass grid. I don't like not having information at a glance. I don't like having to fucking look for the app I want to use.

Then there's the hardware. It's fucking awful. Aluminium is a shitty material. The camera isn't that great. You can't remove and replace the battery on a whim if an iPhone runs out of battery, you have to carry a "battery bank" with a cable you can stick in your phone to charge it while on the go. You have to wait for that charge. You have to keep it plugged into your "battery bank" for an extended period of time. There's no microSD slot, and yes I fucking need one.

No thanks. I'll stick with my Lumia 950 for actual phone shit and Galaxy Tab S3 for entertainment.
