Not to excuse his parents, but you have to understand: schizophrenia is extremely difficult to deal with for relatives, too. My brother had it and it was absolutely miserable, it was emotionally and sometimes physically exhausting for the entire family, and there were 6 of us for support. I can definitely see how years of dealing with it could make them seem a bit careless. It's a constant struggle, espescially during more severe episodes. It can really wear you down. After decades of dealing with it, it comes as no surprise to me that they might be jaded, cynical, and probably out of energy to deal with Terry. There's only the two of them and they seem older, so while I might not excuse their behavior, I can understand it.

What's interesting is that he genuinely seemed to get over his schizophrenia. I know how absurd that sounds, he was diagnosed and everything and certainly displayed every symptom in the book, but now he seems almost perfectly normal, hasn't shown any signs at all in years. He swears he cured himself through intense meditation. I usually don't buy into that shit but it seemed to really work for him. He would sit still and meditate for literally days straight.

I hope Terry finds peace.

TempleOS doesn't even have a virtual memory model, it just jumps to long mode so it can use 64-bit instructions, but doesn't take advantage of any of the memory advancements. What's even the point in targeting an architecture that has an MMU if you're not going to take advantage of that.

It has a shitty FAT-like file system and no networking stack. I literally did more in a 5 month university course than Terry has done in 10+ years.

The only half-decent thing in TempleOS is the 3D engine thingy, and even that is pretty low-hanging effort.

You can do JIT as a debug build if you are just running part of a large amount of code or don't want to wait for the compiler to finish.
