Stop saying it's the programs you autist. In games the compositing gets disabled and that's the reason why panel stucks with the same images. Disable the blur background option in the settings and it'll be fine. Or stop letting other applications to use their own compositor

I have a lot of issues with performance with this. I use a 280x and an i5 4460 with 16GB of RAM.

And the issue is there is not any other DE that seems to be as decent as this. But it really, really slows down at random times. Just 15 minutes ago I had chromium with 4 tabs, the settings window and dolphin and scrolling through 4chan without scripts was painful, now it's back to normal.

I don't know what to do about performance. I tried everything, even padoka and oibaf.

KDE: You want to suspend your machine? Careful, when you wake up performance will be halved for no reason at all. You want to just automatically turn off the monitor? And you're expecting to be able to use your applications afterwards? How silly.

Gnome: We try to do something different while not being any better. You better fiddle with css files if you want some actual customization. Don't you dare tell me you want to use the exact same font on both the top panel and the rest of the elements.

XFCE. Why doesn't this come with compton already? Who knows. Meanwhile enjoy the tearing. Oh that theme uses a different version of gnome-themes-standard so you might have problems with those ugly tray icons. Choose another theme to fix it, even if it's worse.

MATE: Not Gnome 2

Cinnamon: We offer you the possibility of having a lot of widgets, applets, desklets, manlets, whatever you want. Problem is, you're using a newer version than what's supported for half of them. Sorry.

Unity: Despite your attempts to customize your desktop, we're going to keep our vertical 1 pixel bar close to that panel and it will never be fixed. Just move on.

What are you using? KDE Neon is breaking left and right on my end. I don't have the problems OP has, but I must be cursed or something. Does everyone here use openSUSE or some other thing that's much more stable and I'm not doing things right?
