They're not accurate yet. Anyones finger will unlock it. Not secure at all.

I don't want to give my fingerprint to monstrously large corporations.

I got an idea how about you grow up and don't lose your fucking phone like a toddler.

There. No more lockscreen needed ever again.

by that logic, why lock your phone at all? fingerprint reader is literal physical bloat
>>
>>61350443
They really sketch me out. I've already been fingerprinted from a trip to a jailer but I'd rather not have one digitally recorded at the touch of the likes of Google or Apple, or any middle man. Especially given the phone has all vital information and a physical location tracking system easily accessible through a built-in back door.

Don't believe the 'scans cannot leave the device' meme. That IC got to have debugging modes. Fat chance biometric info can be uploaded from those sensors on production models.
>>
>>61350443
Image you have a password to unlock your phone.

Now, everywhere you go you write down that password on a sticky note stick it to anything you touch. All the time. Everywhere. Oh, and you're not allowed (or even able) to change your password ever again.

Still think this is a good idea? : ^ )

Inb4 comparison is retarded. It isn't. Fingerprints as password is retarded.
>>

with a fingerprint scanner you have at most 10 different keys. you also don't know where that fingerprint might end up. and you go to bars and cafes where you touch stuff. and there is the relevant xkcd, in the case of fingerprints it'll be even worse.

This is such a disingenuous argument. Most people don't believe the government is targeting them specifically, and so don't worry about the government sending physical agents to their home to collect their personal information because that would cost a tremendous sum of money and time for each individual targeted.
Collecting digtial information that is already parsed by a third party, on the other hand, is near instant and almost free. There's no reason for the them NOT to collect your data and the system required to do so is already in place, so why wouldn't they take it?

Just because you aren't expecting men in black suits to kick in your door in the dead of night doesn't mean you should leave your biometric data in a spot you know is already under surveillance. That's stupid. That's something a stupid person would do.

It's fine but I use Nova just because it's what I was used to with my previous phone.
Image retention is the only issue I have with mine, and just unlucky on my part, obviously you're not guaranteed to get it down the line
>>
I don't own a cellphone.

I don't need a shitty burger app tiny ass screen to check my facebook 24/7 worrying about likes and how many niggers your wife fucked today.

I'm also not a homo man child, that thinks a status symbol = apple trash and white plastic.
>>
>>61358202
Who cares. I'm not doing any super hacker spy shit on my phone. It's more convenient to press a sensor than type in a password or even swipe a pattern.

What version of Android are you on?
I fear that LG only gives the new version of Android when it releases, and never updates it.
>>
>>61358558
7.0 still
Apparently update is in the works but idk when haven't been keeping up with any of that since 7.0 seems to just werk
>>
>>61350443
Convince me to upgrade over comfy-tier pic related.
>>
>>61358663
Really? I doubt they'll even move up to Android O
And 7.1.2 adds fingerprint scanner functionality, so I would fucking hope the V20 gets it

If browsing 4chan became illegal tomorrow, then you'd care. The nothing to hide argument is retarded.
>>
Is Z5 the only phone that gets it right? iPhone placement is bad and so is the back. Why can't everyone put it on the power button.

Also I love it. I hated using a passcode but this makes it easier to unlock than no passcode and I can make my actual password difficult rather than just a 4 digit number.

My phone has one, I just don't use it. There's no point when I can use a pin lock that I can't be physically forced to unlock.

Anyways, three US dollars have been deposited into your PayPal account, NSA shill #3478.

>>61350456
There are many security concerns with fingerprint readers, such as the possibility that you can have your fingers forced onto it against your will, or that people can hack it using photos of your hands. What you said is not an issue. Don't be retarded.

>>61350488
Fuck off, iBaby. My Android phone from early 2011 had one. Pic related.

What if you're driving and you want somebody in the passenger seat to do something with your phone, like make a call or text someone? What if you want somebody like a nephew or somebody else to use your phone without bothering you or coming back to you every time they accidently put the phone back into it's locked mode? Baka-ass motherfucker.
>>
>>61359793
>letting anyone touch your electronic devices

No.

>What if you're driving and you want somebody in the passenger seat to do something with your phone, like make a call or text someone?

Have them do it on their own phone. Don't they have their own phone? Stop hanging out with poorfags.

>What if you want somebody like a nephew or somebody else to use your phone

Then you are a security risk and a threat to society. Nobody should be touching other people's shit. What are you, a commie?

Finger prints aren't unique and anyone who thinks otherwise is retarded
>>
Is there away to make the finger print reader only active when in proximity to another device, let's say a smart watch detecting your heartbeat? From what I can tell, the weakness in biometrics comes from the fact that the code can't change and can be duplicated, so what if there was a way to cross refrence that data to ensure it was you?

Did you ever have some cops come to your school when you were younger to teach you about the law or whatever, and at one point they fingerprint you as "a game"? They already have it.
