How do you guys organize your stuff? Most of my stuff on my computer

I had my desktop all neat but then changed my resoloution once and fucked it all up and said fuck it. I just use the preinstalled windows orginization folders for pictures, music, ect and my spare hard drive for video

General data type (documents, images, etc.), then context, and then usually 1-2 more levels for specifics as needed. So for example Documents > Tax > 2016. I shy away from going any more granular until I end up with 30+ items in a given directory. At that point it becomes wasted time to navigate around.

More important than directory management, to me anyway, is consistency in naming. For example in the Tax folder all the forms will be named "Form - 1099-DIV," "Form - W-2" and so on. Things which are specific to a particular date start with the "YYYY-MM-DD." Good for quick searching.
