i followed the "Windows 10 Privacy Guide" on fdossena and Windows likes to lockup at least once a week, and programs routinely crash.

I didn't go too deep with the "de-botnetting." Changed all of the creepy toggles I found in Settings, turned off as much of Cortana as I could (I think I did a registry tweak there) and just set Defender and Updates to a reasonably unobtrusive schedule. It's been stable.

I didn't follow any guides for uninstalling Windows Features. Just removed the ones I don't need, which was every single one except PowerShell. I used BlackViper's suggestions for which services to disable and didn't go too aggressive. On the power plans I customized as much as I could without having Windows yell at me for my bad choices (e.g., it gets angry if you don't set SOME KIND of idle screen power timeout).
