Should we all download tor, in case shit goes south? Would that help?

Eh fbi is already on tor standing up as exit nodes. It will be cucked soon.

Owning exit nodes is meaningless with tor. Learn the fucking technology.
One exception is if you're using unencrypted http. In that case, being less of a fucking dumbass is the solution.

why does everyone think tor is safe? do they know the NSA and Office of Naval Intelligence funded its creation? why would they put this thing into the wild without putting a backdoor into it that they could use to track everyone?
i'm convinced it's a giant honeypot to trap idiots. anyone they catch who's important enough gets the opportunity to become a fuccboi for the intelligence community and everyone else just faces lengthy prison sentences.

Your question is equivalent to, "Why does everyone think refrigeration makes food last forever?"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network)#Weaknesses
Just like there's no "forever", there is no "safe". There's only "safer". Why does everyone think it's safer than regular browsing? Because the good math can't be backdoored, and it uses it in successive layers of encryption combined with proxy hopping across the globe.
Just don't torrent over it, kids.

tor is compromised, you dip.

Tor is only safe if you understand how Tor works. I would strongly encourage you to read documentation relating to the inner workings of Tor as well as the security aspects relating to the use of Tor.
If you aren't a peed and you don't want to do any other illegal things, then there is very little point using it.
BUT, it makes sense to understand it now if you are in need of it later on for freedom of speech and/or personal safety needs.
Yes, the government watches exit nodes, but if you aren't a complete pleb and you understand how to use it properly, then you can avoid any problems.

One, it massively slows down the network. Two, it doesn't get you any protection, since the torrent protocol involves sending your real IP to peers.

Makes sense, thanks.
