Anyone here have experience using Wine for gaming? The only reason I run Windows is for video games, and if I can just use Wine with minimal performance issues, then I have no reason to use Windows anymore.

wine runs 80% of dx9 stuff with little issue, some dx10 stuff, and a few select dx11 things like overwatch and the director's cut deus ex with a few cateats that you need to watch out for.
Use Lutris, it's a whole lot easier than configurinmg wine yourself.
Wine plays Diablo 2+LoD, Starcraft and Warcraft 3 perfectly. Those are the only 3 games I play on wine.

works pretty great for me for sc2 and league

Not OP but thanks.

Have you ever had any font issues with League? Not OP here but I've been trying to get LoL running on Arch recently and the OpenGL version (installed using Lutris) seems to have font issues where I can't read any ingame fonts, making it impossible to know what my teammates are saying

I was able to get DX9 stuff working pretty well without fail, but since Microsoft bribed them to hold off on DX11 development, on top of poor Nvidia/AMD gpu drivers...

different anon here. I had a program that wouldn't display any text because the font was missing. What I did was use winetricks.
>Select the default wineprefix
>Install a font
>All fonts
see if that works for you.
>open terminal
>wine wow.exe -opengl
>fucking perfection

Wine has shit performance. Expect a frame drop of 25-60%. It's merely emulating (translating, actually) dx into openGL.
KVM is a superior option.
