Some of the longer keys are slightly bowed, mainly noticeable on my caps lock key. Also they're only 1mm thick, but they were pretty """cheap""". They feel nicely textured, though.

Also for some reason my caps lock is off. Not sure what's causing it, happens with another cap of the same size.

If I under stand this correctly, you have a small R-Shift, a R-Alt, then an Fn key and no R-Ctrl?
Jeezus, man.
I prefer how the Tada did it: Just add one more key column to the right.

I actually have a custom layout using QMK. FN 2 has media controls.
I don't really use the right modifier keys, but I do use arrow keys.

I considered buying something like the Anne Pro, Plum, or Tada but I don't really like the case/keycaps for them and to replace them would have come out than a custom build anyway. Also the ability to fully program the keyboard is a nice bonus (although I think you can program those 3 too)
>>
>>61314951
The Anne pro and plum aren't fully programmable. The tada is, and already comes with some of the best keycaps money can buy. If you want extra meme points it even comes with a metal case or DSA keycaps

The Rama m-65 on the top left is my end game keyboard. I recently sold my Ducky, a Poker and a diy Planck kit as I'd like to leave this hobby and just own one really nice board but I'd rather build it myself. What kind of 60/65 case could I get that's raised and thick like that in the back? I would just buy the Rama one but all of their shit is sold out. Suggestions on a PCB?
>>
>>61315568
Probably should be more concise. I'm looking to build the closest possible thing to that board. I already have the DSA key so set. Just need a suitable gunmetal looking thick ass case, a PCB and to decide which switches I'm going to use.

bought my first mechanical for cheap, is there any reason to spend more than aesthetics and mx brand?
>>
>>61317743

Build quality as well.

But once you get to around the price point of a pok3r then it comes down to switch choice, layout and aesthetics decisions. Like not having an F row.

Any eurobros here? Memeforce with Outemu Brown for £24:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01EJ7ZHQG/ref=twister_B01M4G9A17?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I'd get Gateron but they'll almost twice as expensive. Are Outemu browns better than Cherry?

Also there's Outemu Blacks/Blue for £30 but I think it's normal price:

thoughts?
>>
>>61318064

I've never seen someone build a custom with Outemu switches so I doubt they are better, haven't used them myself though.

At that price what can go wrong, might order one myself just to try it
>>
>>61318865
My friend got Magicforce from aliexpress and the overall quality felt great, so at least I'm sure about that.
I noticed the Black one will be on sale later this evening, so I'll probably go with that one. I really wanted to try linear after using alps white for a year.

Im aware razer is a meme, but the price is looking good.
Other mkb i was looking at are twice the price logitech/corsair.
>>
>>61319363
lol not for that price. That keyboard is worth 60 bucks tops. Consider something from the Ducky series of keyboards

https://www.caseking.de/ducky-one-pbt-gaming-tastatur-mx-blue-weisse-led-schwarz-gata-904.html
Since you're in Germany he prices are 20€ more expensive then here in the US, but these keyboards are in another league compared to ducky.
Or
If you don't care about fancy features like programmable back lighting, function macros, rebindable media keys, and keyboard layers like the ducky keyboards, then get a Leopold instead as they have solid build quality that very few keyboards can match

>>

there are no drivers, which is why the terminal models need an adapter. Just get a new one from Unicomp

>>
so are the romer g switches actually good or is it a meme?
>>
>>61320833
you can always get a new one from unicomp. They are hated on because literally they are not the model m. I personally like the unicomp better cause it is lighter, win key, and comes built in with a usb instead of having to solder one in with the model m.

Oh my god, silent blacks are the best switch Cherry have ever made. They're so smooth, minimal wobble and the rubber dampeners just quiet the switch without affecting the solid bottom out feel. It's incredible.
>>
>>61330354
>t. somebody that hasn't tasted the glory of Gateron Linear god.
>>
>>61330376
I have, my current daily driver keyboard uses Gateron Blacks and I've used Yellows before too. They're a little wobblier than Silent Blacks, comparable smoothness and much louder. If you're on a budget I'd still recommend Gaterons but the Silents are amazing.
>>
>>61330402
Glad. I'll consider in the future.
>>
I've only used Cherry Reds before but how are Gateron Browns? I've wanted to switch from linear to tactile but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
>>
Do blue Ducky leds still have a high failure rate? I'm thinking of just getting a non backlit just so I don't have to worry.
>>
Why are Cherry Clears praised so much for "superior tactility"? Got some and the bump isn't any sharper than browns.
>>
>>61317695
You've probably already bought them, but for whatever reason, Cherry Greens feel better, and sound deeper than Gateron Greens. Gaterons do have the edge of being lighter and smoother though. Gateron sounds like a high pitched "ping" sound, while Cherry has the "thock" sound.

Cherry Blue vs Gateron Blue though, I'm still not sure myself.
>>
Any switch recomendation for someone that have finger pain from bottom out the keys every time?
>>
>>61318142

Definitely the Ducky, especially because it comes with PBT keycaps if you get the right version.
>>
>>61330858
what switch are you using now? membrane?
>>
>>61328838
MOD-M switches are my favorite tactile switch; they have the most distinctive tactile bump out of every switch I've ever tried, including Zealios. They are a little scratchy though, so you'll need to lube them. Definitely worth the money, and they're cheaper than those shitty Reddit switches.
>>
>>61330922
A shitty membrane who is stiff and scratchy.
>>61330968
>reddit switches
What are these?
>>
>>61329438
It has built in memory, so after you set it up, it's done forever.

Gateron Blues have a much higher pitched clicky sound, and it sounds "cheaper" than Cherry Blue. It's a little lighter and has its Gateron buttery smoothness so it's definitely the easier switch to press.

Cherry Blue has a more lower pitched click, and because it feels a little rougher (not scratchy, just a little less smooth) it feels like the more "sturdy" switch.

Both switches are good picks, but pick Cherry for sound or Gateron for pressing.

Get any switch that you prefer with actuation under 50-ish grams and bottoms out near 70-ish grams. So pick Brown, Red, Blue, or their respective lighter versions.

I have a feeling you'll like Gateron Red switches.

I mainly began looking for a keyboard because I needed a backlit keyboard. Then I began thinking this is a good opportunity to try a mechanical keyboard. I don't really want to spend more than $80 CAD. I don't game, just mainly use excel. I need a number pad. And I want something that can be illuminated in all solid colours (I.e. no simultaneous rainbow patterns). I found this, but can't find as much feedback on it as I would like.

Can any give me any comments on this? The deal expires at the end of the day. It has Aukey blue switchs. I will be using the keyboard at home so no noise concerns. Looking for a buy or not buy from someone more experienced.

It's a board that uses recycled parts, plastic backplate, non-removable cable, non-standard bottom row (enjoy having the same cheap ABS keycaps forever), and you can't program anything. You probably could've gotten a keyboard at the same price that's a better deal, and I personally think red LEDs look horrible.

Though it does have Cherry switches so it's not all bad, you could've gotten a board from Razer or Logitech and gone full retard so it's not the worst case scenario. If you ever want to grab new keycaps, you can, but you're stuck with that 6.5 spacebar forever. Just never buy from Corsair again.

Are the recycled parts a rumour or is Corsair really that shady? And the keyboard is programmable with their software (CUE). Ive heard people say it's clunky software though. I personally love red so that's fine with me, different strokes right.

Yeah that's the main reason I didn't go with the razer, also I got it on Amazon for 30 bucks off so I don't feel too bad about it being a pretty entry level board.

The PoorPad.

PCBs, not a full numpad case.

I done bought it on Amazon for the price I mentioned there, my local shop only had razer's. Honestly i never heard of those brands before coming on this board today. I regret not coming here and researching. However like I said in an earlier post I enjoy it a lot so I'm not too upset, but I did overspend.
>>
>>61341898
If it's Amazon, you more than likely can still return it.

Or you can get sick of it a year later and buy something much better. That's what I did when I got my first mech, a K70, way back.
>>
>>61341941
I think I'll take the second option and just save like I've been doing. If I end up hating the shined keys and such, I'll look into some better options. Thanks for the eye opener!

Kikery

But thanks, I'll look around. Do you think prices will drop again? It's going to be my second keyboard so I'm mostly getting this for comparison/variety. The novelty of the unusual keycap material intrigues me (even if it's supposed to be similar), and I want to give browns a try. (Currently typing this from my blue tada - or I would if I wasn't phoneposting.)

Anyone trying to get in on the WhiteFox Kickstarter?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lekashman/whitefox-mechanical-keyboard/description

The NightFox is so sexy
>>
>>61342561
I would have bought one already if it were in the vanilla layout. The gap between the keys on the bottom row is such a retarded design it's going to keep me from buying one.
>>
>>61342524
The Choc is probably gonna stay at that price because I don't think they're made anymore. I you really want to play with POM, you can just buy the keycaps:

https://kbdfans.myshopify.com/collections/keycaps/products/pom-black-blank-keycaps-104keys

If you want a 75 design, there are much better models out there with Gateron Browns.
>>
>>61342561
$160 is a little steep, but considering what you're getting it's still a good deal. WhiteFox is a great keyboard with great switches, case, and keycaps, it's basically perfect. Supposedly they use new Kailh switches with the better molds, but they should just sell with the speed and box versions already.

>USB Type C Connector

I don't know how I feel about this yet. I'm not sure I want to go out and get custom cables again, but this mite be cool.

they're a meme because you only need them if the keycaps are made to require backlighting, but if you have normal keycaps they just need the light from the monitor
>>
>>61343034
But what makes the Whitefox $70 better than the TADA68?
>>
>>61343287
Its the original meme
>>
>>61343145
Nice, much less kikery. Newegg is being a cunt and telling me they have server problems though so once that clears up I'll see how much shipping to uk costs.

I'm assuming you put up the link to the keycaps as a separate suggestion, right? Because the newegg listing seems to show it with the normal POM ones already.

Oh yeah and is this board programmable? I don't care too much, but I thought it was for some reason and now I can't find any info anywhere.

An aluminum case and maybe their Halo switches are actually cool and not shit. A Tada68 is $140-$200 with an aluminum case (depending if buy Taobao or Aliexpress), but to be fair, the aluminum case for the Tada is a fucking tank. It is a shame they don't offer the Vanilla layout though, a space where the Ctrl key should be is just lame.

Tada68 is still the better deal, no matter what the shills at Input Club say about Gaterons.
>>
>>61343437
Niice, after going through 3/4 of the checkout process they tell me it doesn't ship to uk.

If I get the POM keycaps for $30, what are some good quality gateron brown boards under about $60 that ship to bongland? James Donkey works out to almost exactly that, and since at that point it's basically the same price I'd rather just get the noppoo from ali.

Just ordered my second Leopold FC660C. My black one is at work. I'm going to bring it home and make the one I ordered (white/gray) the office KB since I'm less of a slob at work and won't get as much food an sheeit on it.

My KBT Race with the reds and white LEDs will probably become the PC/Xbone keyboard since I like to shitpost on Gears and I don't really like it that much, kind of mushy feeling and the resistance is light enough that when I'm stoned/drunk my hand inadvertently depresses the keys also I'm drunk right now typing on it

I thought the Leopold was out of production desu but it looks like you can get them on Amazon for $229 shipped form Korea
>>
>>61343208
>require backlighting
So if I ordered a non-led Ducky with doubleshot pbt caps they'll give me crisp white letting instead of that grayish translucent shit, right? If so I made the right choice, I hate that
>>
>>61344071
Ducky One with PBT keycaps is probably one of the best keyboards you can buy right now, good choice. And your keys will have black dye-sublimated legends, no transparent bullshit.
>>
>>61344071
the doubleshot pbt keycaps might have translucent legends. check the product page of the one you ordered

I just bought one of these things and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I think?

jk, but does anyone have a link/diagram for actuation-depth on key presses?

also why the fuck is brown/red the most popular? they're objectively the least satisfying
>>
So, is there a reasonable way to wash all of your keycaps at once? I feel like I'd get around to it more if I had a method other than soak and then hand-dry.

If you completely ignore all the heavily biased garbage they write, the force/travel graphs and measurements are good.

soak them with denture tabs and/or use an ultrasonic cleaner
>>
>>61343287
Well, here's one tiny annoyance with the TADA; Its software requires flash (which means I have to open Chrome every time I sue it) and full of untranslated Chinese.
Then again, as someone who uses lots of keyboard shortcuts, I hate that the Whitefox only has one Alt key on the right side.

I just order this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZY9YV1N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

How did I do?
>>
>>61345724
>>61345803
Ok, so I'm using this thing and I know for certain that I don't want cmx linear greys, but I'm not sure if linear keys are completely out of the question.
of the clicky cmx, I like white the most, but maybe blue or green
of the tactile cmx, I like all of them, but maybe the grey is too stiff.

How can I decide? just keep pressing these buttons until something... clicks?
>>
>>61348335
>BLUE SWITCHES, GAMING-GRADE RESPONSIVENESS.

You tell me how you did. Should've grabbed a MagicForce instead, at least their no-name switches for $40 aren't completely horrible.
Also, I think those LEDs don't actually change color, so you're stuck with the rainbow.
>>
is the realforce rgb topre switch nothing more than a meme now?
>>
>>61348336
Make sure you put keycaps on them, and try and angle the tester as if it were a keyboard. Besides that, yea, that's all you really do. Though I find myself pressing harder on testers just because it's one switch, so make sure you press them "lighter" than what you're expecting, and guess whether or not you'd get fatigue from the spring weight.
>>
>>61347369
Call me when there's fully programmable rubber domes in good layouts.
>>
>>61348439
I think Topre made the switch lighter and quieter to accommodate to manufacturing RGB boards. Purists will tell you it doesn't feel the same as other Realforce boards, but it's still Topre. Though the way they made the switch, I'd be curious to see how it stacks up to other copy-cats, like Plum.

Absolutely solid keyboard, great choice. Just note that the keys are only pad-printed, so avoid touching or scratching the sides of the keys.
