I lowered it because I don't want to fry it. But literally in the specs Intel says it can go upto 100c no problem.

Uh the iMac 5k 2017 has a Radeon 580 which is a decent GPU for budget gaymen.

Obviously he won't be running at 5k res, probably 1440p or 4k at medium to low settings.

If you want a better GPU just get an eGPU setup for your iMac :^)

Apple is a for-profit business whose entire business model revolves around people upgrading with each and every iteration of the products they make.

You cannot possibly tell me that a business like that would choose to NOT design their products to fail or degrade to near uselessness close to said iteration refresh in order to "encourage" their customers to upgrade.
And you certainly cannot tell me that said "engineers" aren't working specifically to ensure that such degradation or failures happen on time and in manners that does not hold Apple liable for any replacement or repair.

I mean did you miss that whole thing where Apple fucking HQ sent out a mail to literally EVERYONE to not under any circumstance confirm that there was in fact a Mac specific virus going around, and that their computer had caught it, but rather to specifically avoid the subject and just check in the computer for "hardware repair" or some other bullshit excuse, charging people money in the process. Customers who then promptly got infected again and again and again, paying out the ass each time for "hardware repair".

No, they're working within certain thermal specifications. They like their products thin. It was a Steve Jobs fetish. If you see the 5k iMac in person you will agree it's a beautiful machine and well worth the thermal compromise, in my opinion. They understand their market, not everyone will be running the CPU at 100% load all the time.

It is a business, but they don't "set out" to make products that fail.

Go google around, iMacs are beasts and they last a long time. The ones with the hard drives don't, but you can blame the hard drives for that. They aren't that hard to replace anyway even out of warranty.
