My mechanical watches are a mix of Swiss and Japanese because both countries make good mechanicals, but Seiko really has absolutely dominated in quartz from the very beginning. Most Swiss quartz watches are nothing more than cheaper also-ran shitters for people who wanted a mechanical watch but settled for the cheaper quartz one. The exceptions to that, stuff like the Rolex Oysterquartz, are few and far between and pretty much nonexistent these days.

It's a combination of the demand for larger size watches, "Newman" dials were not very popular on the original release - only 2000 or so were ever made which makes them rare, Newman was always seen wearing one and was always seen as one of the coolest actors ever, and because his original watch had vanished. Add to that the fact the demand for rare vintage Rolexes has skyrocketed in the 10-15 years, the last few years especially, with Newman Daytonas being often described as the main reason why.

Taken all together it's little reason that when his watch goes up for auction later this year it's expected to reach $10m+
>>
>>61326238
The Tudor has a rugged charm, and the cream indices and red lettering improve its personality compared to the regular black and blue versions.

But there's still a lot of text on the dial, the case is not only tall-ish but also blocky, and it sucks that the date window replaces the entire hour marker.
Really fucks up the symmetry, especially in the dark where a dive watch is supposed to really sing.

The Omega is very true to the original seamaster 300 and looks fantastic.
The numeral hour markers are beautiful and true to the original numerals.
There's no date window, so the symmetry is perfect.
Also, no novel on the dial.

There is a lot of bling going on with the Omega; that metal ring between the ceramic of the bezel and the crystal, the hands, the tops of the lugs, and most of all the centre links of the bracelet, ...
Putting it on a nato helps it a lot though.

To add: A lot of the time dogshit watches will be "one sale" at a huge discount just to make it seem enticing, meanwhile even the "discount" price is far more than the watch is worth.

Not him but this make me think, can normies tell chinese dog shit from a high end horology just by looking?
Ofc not those in the middle because they're dumb but i reckons they at least can tell a A.Lange from a chinese shitter

I don't understand either, it looks like chinkshit. If people have the money and really want one, more power to them I guess.
>>
>>61335766
No they can not. I've regularly had people come in with absolutely atrocious chink industrial refuse with "Patek Phillipe" or "Omega" written on it asking if it's real or not. Sometimes they don't even look like any model that ever existed, just some generic $1 shitter with "Omega" on the dial.

Saddest was one customers grandma who took real good care of her obviously fake quartz Rolex for twenty years thinking it was genuine.

Normalfags only know of Casio, Timex, sometimes Rolex, and Daniel Wellington if they are "fashion forward" people.

Omega geneve guy here.

>went to another watch place
>same pricing
Yeah maybe some other time.

Any chance that case will see proper restoration?
>>
>>61336132
Why would you buy a beat to hell soviet shitter when you can get a pristine example for a pittance?
>>
>>61336132
That's a little too much dust for my taste.
>>
>>61336132
you may as well sand the case and toss it in muriatic acid and to bring the brass out.
>>
>>61336143
I doubt it. There is a lot of corrosion. If I'm going to restore a case it'll be my megasonic.

>>61336144
It was a gift in any case, but looks fine in person. The super-shiny new crown on it looks a bit out of place though.

>>61336149
If you mean on the dial, it's not dust - for whatever reason, the way the dial has aged has created a speckle effect. Still better than those "tropical" dials.
