>other useful software (VPNs, etc)

>companies to avoid at all costs

I keep hearing on /g/ that 4chan is getting banned in Germany, but Google doesnt show anything

also interested to hear why /g/ hates Win 10 so much
>>

I use Firefox and a lot of addons to try and protect my privacy. I use uBlock Origin with all the optional filterlists enabled. I use uMatrix in default-deny mode, even for first-party scripts, to minimize the amount of active content that can run. I use SDC to clean up cookies, refcontrol in whitelist mode to remove referers, and random agent spoofer to give me a new UA every few minutes. (And do do a few things like spoof my reported screen size). I use HTTPS Everywhere, Decentraleyes, and Skip Redirects.

I use that ghacks user.js to disable dozens and dozens of things. Telemetry and healthreport, the safebrowsing stuff that reports URLs to google, DNS leaks and prefetching, WebRTC, canvas, WebGL, even websites being able to specify their own fonts. I do all my browsing in Linux VMs, and as much as possible I do it over a VPN. I regularly disconnect and switch to a VPN server in a different country. I don't use any Google services, including Youtube and search. (I split my searches between Startpage and DDG)

That's just for web browsing. And I still feel like I'm falling behind and missing things. I'm up against thousands of smart people in the adtech industry whose well-paid full-time jobs are to figure out new tracking and analytics measures. And more smart people at my ISP and in intelligence agencies who're trying to do the same thing. It's exhausting and I resent having to go to all this trouble to have something everyone should have by default.

Enjoy your special snowflake browser fingerprint, retard.

User Agents not matching the IP address and other metadata are fishy as fuck and make you way more interesting.

Privacy is for pedophiles

Every conceivable topic does not need a general, newfags.
Generals shit up the board quality by encouraging people to participate only in "their" generals instead of the board at large.
A couple are fine if interest is high enough, but this general fad needs to end.
>>
>>61308312
That's very thorough, but not enough, I don't think your method works because you're trying to plug every single possible hole, which is a tedious task.
use TOR instead, hide yourself amongst the masses.

You don't have freedom. Internet will be more restricted.

LETS MAKE THE NSA AND THE CIA TRANSPARENT

LETS SEE IF THE NSA ISN'T FULL OF PEDOPHILES
>>
What VPN services are good/worth it? I'm under no illusions they're gonna protect me from the NSA/CIA/FBI, but I got a torrent letter for downloading an old season of The Simpsons and I want to play it safe (I already know to be careful with recently released mainstream stuff, I'm paranoid because it was something old that got me).
>>
>>61309846
there aren't exactly masses using tor, anon. And unless you just want to give up and let the botnet win, you still have to plug every hole - just in the opposite direction, trying to look as much like the average browser as possible.

>>61311213
VPNs are for browsing and stuff. if you just want to torrent you should get a seedbox instead.

>>61310403
You never have freedom unless you're willing to take it by force from those who would rule over you.
>>
>>61311313
My mistake, I just want to have something under another IP doing my torrenting so lawyers won't know to send angry letters to my ISP.

What are good seedbox services? Again I accept that the NSA has already scrutinized my porn preferences, just don't want my ISP to get mad at me.
>>
>>61308312
My question is why not put Linux on a USB thumb drive and use that for your daily needs and then use your desktop for gaming and video editing etc?
>>
>>61313497
you mean instead of using Linux VMs? VMs are more convenient. You don't have to reboot and you can always shut them down and revert to a snapshot to go back to a known-clean state.
>>
>>61313587
Well that might be true but VM's also involve a ton of updating and trying to make sure the Ram, memory are setup right to start it off. It's not plug and play for the casual users like USB drive versions would be.

Both Trails and Kali are good just depends what you need them for. Also didint Julian Assange actually use Trails for awhile?
