okay I am done with this piece of shit browser. It's lagging and hitching nonstop on top of being slow as hell. what are the best alternatives?

Firefox:
>customizable
>e.g. able to disable websockets/other spying, impossible on chrome

And if "SJW" is a problem, realize Google is just as "SJW", if not more.

going to ignore the botnet talk cause you already know, but you most likely don't clear your history or don't have an add-on that manages it for you. too many add-ons, too many tabs, could be more problems than that

meme aside, for some reason Chromium and Chrome are running kinda slow. They render fast but incomplete. Suddenly using Firefox is ok. Maybe is the way the programs are build in my distro. I am using Lubuntu 16.04

tfw i moved from chrome because muh botnet but actually found out that firefox's ui flips the fuck out if you have it open for over a day, occasionally fucks with downloading files and uses so much more ram and bogs down my machine than chrome ever did.

Just use ungoogled chromium. Tried it out after getting frustrated with Chrome for the same reasons you did - it loads much faster and things aren't laggy as shit anymore. Considerably less memory useage.
>>
>>61306437
>It's lagging and hitching nonstop on top of being slow as hell

I'm no Chrome fan but that is factually incorrect. It eats a lot of ram, but it's the fastest and least lagging browser out there.

I would do a clean install if you haven't tried that. (remove everything including profile folders).
>>
>>61316947

720p60 youtube videos lags with Chrome but works flawlessly on Firefox on my potato, so..

>>
>>61315313
I'm probably making myself look like a fool here, but if I'm not mistaken thats because https everywhere checks every URL that you load against a list of URLs that have https enabled, and further, I think that list may not even be stored locally. But like I said I'm not sure.
But anyways, I've found that I get a smoother experience using an addon called Smart Https. It tries to form a secure connection by default, with every site that you load, and if that fails it'll switch back to plain http. I admit it slowed down my browsing a bit at first, but tweaking "If loading takes longer than x ms" setting according to my usual connection speed/ping, it's hard to even notice that I'm using an addon like that.

sounds like PEBKAC or some garbage hardware.
>>
>>61306437
Try Vivaldi. It has less RAM memory usage and also supports extensions the same way Chrome handles it.
>>
>>61320501
Vivaldi has a lot of nice things but it's really slow at loading images.
The 4chan catalog and flickr for instance take ages and the youtube player looks small on it.
>>
>>61306437

>>
>>61320615
>>61320501
Okay this is just getting more and more weird.

- Vivaldi uses the same engine.
- Vivaldi actually rapes the engine with Javascript hell. There was a live coding session not that long ago, HOLY FUCK THAT VOMIT CODE.... It's literally a hack on a hack on hacks.

tl;dr: There should be no speed difference whatsoever, except for the UI. I used both on limited clockspeeds and I felt no difference. I mean just check benchmarks, there is NO difference.
>>
>>61320615
>>61320788
I would check DNS settings, router first. There must be something lurking in there.
>>
>>61320788
>>61320796

Yeah it's weird.
I don't want to use Chrome but sadly it's faster than Vivaldi while Vidaldi has lots of features I use strongly.
>>
>>61320829
But that is impossible.
As I said the engine is literally 1:1 the same.

DNS, router, network card, something is fucking up something something. We are on /g/. Go and find it, that's your job.
>>
>>61320862
Well but it happens, I find it as weird as you but it happens and I don't know how the DNS should affect one specific browser, but it happens.

Slow as shit compared to Chrome on desktop. And Edge. Similarly to using Linux, the reason you should be using Firefox is because you're not a degenerate normie fucktard and appreciate the customization and philosophy.

But since that's not a great sales pitch, Mozilla pretends like it's not slow and crashy and insecure af compared to any other major browser, and a huge number of people on the Internet perpetuate that inbetween asking you when the last time you've reset your profile was.
