Why do CPU manufacturers put IHS on there CPU's? Removing it has been proven to reduce CPU temperatures and it would reduce manufacturing costs.

Because it's not dumb people proof
Try to remove it from an AMD Ryzen. It is much harder to delit it, and give you 1 °C less.
AMD is doing it right, Intel not.
>>61302403
Because people will split and crack the die on their £1000 cpu otherwise.
>>61302410
But why don't manufacturers sell both lidded and unlidded CPU's?
>>61302424
>>61302419
Old AMD CPUs didn't have a IHS though why now?
AMD are starting to get better than Intel.
>>61302441
Because bare dies are more likely to get damaged anon. The IHS protects the die.
>>61302465
But why don't they provide the option? Even at a higher price some people would buy them. CPU Temps are lower thus allowing the user to push more power from the CPU
>>61302502
Because the delided version would be significantly higher in cost due to the increased return rates from retards clamping down their meme AIO cooler and cracking the die.
If you want a delided cpu, do it yourself and void your warranty.

current AMD IHS is soldered, who fucking cares?
It would increase packaging costs and damaged stock
same reason monitor still have bezels
>>61302552
im sure intel would be happy to charge extra for delidded cpus
>>61302403
>>61306056
>intell starts selling i7's without ihs
>sell it off as a "feature"
>all the paperthin CPU bend and get fucked
>Intel tells people that their delidded CPU's "are not meant to be used without the IHS"
>>61307374
Of course not. You're supposed to buy a 3rd party IHS. With RGB lighting.
>>61302433
Because that's one extra SKU to handle for no reason. There are third party sellers who provide this service anyway
