You can mount ntfs on Linux just fine, also any GUI file manager should show you creation time, and you can use stat in a terminal. You might try xfs instead of ext4 as it has more file metadata features.

My cheap chinese drawing tablet I got on Amazon works out of the box on Linux so I assume that brand name tablets will. I don't know much about audio production but honestly I would trust it more than windows as windows blue screens and likes to try to update all the time. Try looking in the archives of the Linux action show or watching the ask Noah show (both from Jupiter broadcasting) as Noah does some audio stuff on Linux.

Emacs and vim or even GNOME builder are all better than visual studio. FreeCAD is a thing. Gimp works fine for most photo editing and lightworks is good for video and inkscape for vectors. Freecad is not an alternative to anything from Autodesk.
Inkspace is not an alternative to Illustrator.
Gimp is not an alternative to Photoshop.
Anyone who used those programs for actual work knows that.

Online office applications are a pain to use and switching from LibreOffice to Microsoft Office was a great decision.
The online upside to LibreOffice is that Calc has scripting support in languages that are not fucking Basic.

>>
>>61297052
PCI passthrough does not require a separate monitor, keyboard, mouse or audio device. Dual monitors is nice because you can have one with Linux and one with windows and use synergy to control both but you can just use a single monitor and switch inputs on it.
>>
>>61299105
At this point you've completely disabled the Linux UI and would have saved time just dual booting instead of reconnecting your cables.

>>61297944

Actually FreeCAD has most of those features on its own. FreeCAD can also export models to meshing (netgen or gmsh usually if you don't use SALOME itself) in other FEA/FEM programs like Code_Aster. Code_Aster is generally considered a full dedicated FEM/FEA system for mechanical/structural systems, and CalculiX accomplishes something similar as well and is integrated into FreeCAD. You can also use multiphysics programs like MOOSE or elmer to accomplish structural analysis tasks but I'd say it's very overkill since they're meant for meshes with billions of triangles and lots of domains.

For Rhino, unfortunately you're stuck with Blender, though I'm personally more used to Blender and I like the fact that EXR exports can be integrated into video editing programs (which, btw, on Linux, use kdenlive to edit but post-proc/composite in blender+natron). SolveSpace is good to replace inventor, though all I've ever needed was to export STLs and rarely need to make convoluted things, but FreeCAD probably could do that.

That being said, it isn't a good drop in replacement because their workflow is pretty counter-intuitive to well known programs.
>>
>>61303933
Blender and rhino can't be compared blended has the same capabilities as grasshopper.
>>
>>61304042
Ah. You're right. For some reason I thought the other way around. Though, FreeCAD can also do NURBs, STL export, and raytracing etc, etc., it probably isn't on par ATM and it's not suitable for direct migration.
