Nigga what?

Also, Apple music costs the same, has a solid classical interface instead of this dumb shit design spotify uses (open up the app and get bombarded by normie shit instead of just having the option to click artists/albums/genre/etc category right away like on Apple music) doesn't delete your entire fucking download library when you use a VPN and lets you use your own mp3s simultaneously with the apps encrypted downloads. I'm not even an Apple fag but after using it for a month I could never go back to spotify.
Spotify pays artists way less money btw and doesn't even pay their devs for actually improving their bugged shit service.
>>
>>61279945
>Paying $10 a month to "rent" lossy music that can only be accessed when you have an internet connection and can be taken away at any time if spotify or the artist decides to do so.
You may as well just pirate, or even better, buy CDs and get lossless music you can keep forever.
Artists actually get a comparatively decent chunk of CD sales compared to spotify which pays them pennies.
There's literally no benefit to spotify over an SD card with music and a way to access youtube.

Saving is superior to streaming in every way. Why are you afraid of using up 1GB of space for a few hundred songs?
>>
>>61280285
this
artists really make the dosh from shows, collabs with other artists, and merch.
or just straight up sending actual money to them.
I torrent whole discographies, but I actually support a good chunk of artists if they don't make millions
>>
>>61280314
I'm not NEET. In 30 min of easy work I make enough to pay for spotify for 1 month. I can get billions of songs at HQ without going to shady torrent sites and doing all types of VPN shit

>>
>>61280048
With an edu email, it's only $4/mo.
I don't consume other media much to justify paying for a VPN + seedbox just to have access to artists that don't show up on public shit.
However, I can see how VPN+seedbox eventually becomes much cheaper than netflix+prime+hbo+applemusic+youtubered+etc.
>>
>>61280289
I wish. It's simply better if you just listen to full albums instead of playlists and want your library sorted by artist > album > song by default.
If I click on an artist I just want to see a list of the albums, preferably just the covers, instead of having a cliusterfuck of albums with every track on one huge list. And don't tell me abou thearist page because that fucking shit us dependent on a internet connection and my local mobile network is shit so I don't want to wait 20 seconds to just have my music sorted properly.

>>
I just download the mp3 from YouTube. I use youtube-mp3.org and it works well enough. For those complaining about audio, if you're fine with 128/192kbps then its fine.

Spotify has other issues like tracking what you listen to and DRM.

Yea right. I have used both and Apple Music's music discovery and recommendations are shit, even after disliking and liking tons of songs. Spotify is way better at serving up music you would like. Their "Discovery Weekly" and "Release Radar" are way better than Apple's "My New Music Mix" and "My Favorites Mix"
>>
>>61279945
Spotify is probably one of the few decent services in that criteria, works well and has nice features, i pay virtually nothing since i share it with 2 more people.

i think i pay like $5 a month using the student discount; the convenience of not having to transfer over the files is worth it. that and the music discovery feature is pretty great.

Streaming services are still brutal. More skips than a record and has lossy artifacts especially in the high frequency range
>>
From a buyfag perspective it's a pretty fucking good deal. Instead of buying individual records you pay 10 bucks for the rest of your life and get virually unlimited access to music both new and old, never having to buy a record again. It's also a breeze to create playlists since you have all the records available.
In reality once you start branching out into less known genres the library starts seriously lacking and really just fucking pirate music it's so easy nowadays with tools like Soulseek you have no reason not to.
>>
>>61281362
That's false. The amount musicians get is almost the lowest in the industry aside from Pandora and youtube

Not me, I have a transparent caching proxy set up on my network to cache HTTP overhead, and I set Spotify cache to much larger than usual, so almost all my music is actually cached to my local drive. Finally, while I dont pay for Spotify, I did buy Audials 2017, which allows me to rip Spotify music and it automatically detects and discards duplicates and ads. Most of music is now playable offline.
>>
>>61287170
You're paying for the hosting and software development which provides public APIs for stuff like Mopidy and of course pretty nice apps on phones (that don't even depend on GApps!). The convenience of not having to store, rip, download files and sort through them by yourself is so great. I hate it when my local collection can never provide just _any_ track that comes to mind but only some specific favorites. Also, anything above MP3 V2 is audiofoolery snake oil. I too like FLAC for archival, but for listening there is NO audible difference except your placebo.
