But EME doesn't include DRM. EME is a standardized framework for implementing DRM. There's a big difference between the claim of EME putting DRM into the HTML standards and what EME actually is. If EME put DRM into the HTML standards then HTML would no longer be open and no more new open source browsers would be able to be made that would support new HTML features. There was an article not long ago about how this is actually a good thing since it limits how much proprietary code will be needed and lowers security risks, considering companies would be pushing DRM whether there was an open framework for implementing it or not.
