I use messanger to talk with my family overseas and to arrange hanging out with my friends. It's standardized and easy to use compared to trying to name text groups that rely on service/carriers. I've gotten by with irc, discord, pidgin, steam, phone and talking to people in person for years. Hell we all used msn/aol/icq (and trillian) for a decade, why do I want to use faggotbook, something that plasters ads at me and an inane wall of 'other peoples food photos'. I want a simple communications platform that sometimes offers filesharing, audio, alerts. So for my purposes there already exists multiple platforms to provide me communication, why bother with FB because a few 15 year olds and grandparents use it?
