How long till we get proper human augumentation?
>>61253704
Not with the current patent laws
>>61253704
when we can reliably write and install drivers on the brain
>>61254072
>implying we need to fuck with anything that high up
nerve interfaces are what we need, and they only need to go where the missing appendage is
don't know about this extra shit here though
>>61253704
>>61254316
how will your brain know what to do with an additional body part that doesn't have the proper wiring? sure you can replace stuff that was already there, but adding new stuff is not that easy
>>61254369
You could just base it on the movements of another part of your body. E.g. moving your toes.

>>61253704
we already have people who are test subjects in replacing arms and legs with ones that read the synapses normally given to the arm/leg that was there.
hell, we already have people who had eyes replaced with cameras that are able to make shit out
now legitimately replace a limb like it is as good as the old one? thats a decade or two off unless research into neural mapping takes the fuck off or the synapse readers get a break through.
we are closer and at the same time farther away then we have ever been.
>>61254447
replacing != adding extra ones
I just need a goddamn third or fourth arm already. I keep running into situations where I need more than just my current two.
>mfw augumenting myself to have 2 dicks
>>61254452
you start small and work up, look into people who split their tongue and can now use the two separately.
to be honest, we would likely get to a point where reading the mind through pads directly is more efficient than adding extra limbs, as the only use for extra ones I can think of would be typing with 30-40 fingers where you think of the word/letters/characters and the fingers automatically hit the keys, but that would likely be able to be done with the mind better then through adding 30 fingers.
>>61254468
And then you can use both to fuck yourself

They're just analogue signals. The only real feat is interfacing with the nervous system and doing it accurately. I believe that the brain would be able to re-adapt itself to recognize misplaced signals though, so for example, if you crossed the wires between the pinky and forefinger, eventually your brain would reorient itself to isolate and identify them as they were.
>Tfw AIs are capable of doing human tasks much faster, good enough to do all the paperwork for Lawyers
How long until we upgrade our brain matter?
>>61254447
>replacing eyes with cameras
Source? The optic nerve is very hard to work on
>>61254623
The problem with that is that no matter which method you try to use, you're only ever making a copy. I don't think we'll ever find a way to interface fully with the brain itself without attempting one of these procedures. You simply cannot transfer consciousness.
With that said working outside of the brain itself something like ocular implants could be promising, it'd be the most effective method of computer interfacing that you could ever make happen. Other things like manually or even automagically manipulating hormone and neurotransmitter modulation could be interesting but it has limited application. Cybernetic limbs would be interesting but from all of the technology I've seen there's ever only been one that looked truly promising as it mimicked the human musculature. sorry, the guy I know of was several years back and had it wired to his brain I believe, but some faggot replaced his eye with a camera, as in one he cant see through, and thats all that comes through with a search of google.
ultra-fast neuron replacement when?
>>61254724
A copy of the brain is the transference of consciousness, from the perspective of the copy.
