they have the same package manager so you'll have the same experience.

Ubuntu Server
Debian minimal, of course almost anything can run an FTP server.

Always Ubuntu. Ever try to do something with Debian, it'll be headaches all around.

It might be a slightly wiser idea to figure out why you don't want to run an FTP server.
And perhaps setup something more... current year?
Thx all for reply, i think i'll have to test them all with time as experience increase

Ubuntu is just easy debian.
Don't make your job harder.

Lol wtf dont use bloted *buntu it is shit you can check web server during installation or use tasksel to install apache and from there reconfigure it to be a FTP server
>>61239457
I would use debian. They are the most common distro for servers for good reason.

This.
Ubuntu on servers and pretty much just as stable as Debian for majority of use cases. It's worth it to have up to date software and PPA support.

if you literally just want FTP install Debian Stable.
If you wanna run some more modern shit like nginx+php-fpm+whatever the fuck you might wanna consider Ubuntu LTS instead.

Ubuntu, debian is a fucking outdated meme even with the latest version.
Ubuntu.
