Been thinking about upgrading my S6 to an S7 because they are so cheap now.

I still really like my S6, it's fast, has a beautiful screen, looks great and takes great pictures.

Battery life could be better though and I wouldn't mind expendable storage + waterproofing.

Anyone that has made the jump from the s6 to the s7 and was it worth it?
>>
>>61229188
S7 is massively better. S6 was a blunder.

>The Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus features a powerful camera setup. The front camera has a 20MP sensor for cool selfie snapshots. It also comes with a self-timer, 2 secnds gesture self-timer, a colour temperature light flash, 3D stereo fusion algorithm, art blur and support for Beauty 4.0. The rear camera setup, as you already know, is a dual-lens setup consisting of a 12MP wide-angle camera and an 8MP telephoto sensor.
>The cameras have a f/1.8 aperture, as well as supports OIS, portrait mode, and lots more. The camera also enhances the picture quality depending on the environment condition under which the camera photo needs to be shot.

Band 1 = 2100MHz (used by Telstra, Optus, Vodafone refarmed 3G spectrum)
Band 3 = 1800MHz (used by Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, ex 2G spectrum)
Band 5 = 850MHz (used by Vodafone, refarmed 3G spectrum)
Band 7 = 2600MHz (used by Telstra, Optus)

You yourself should know when it's worn out.

Does it drain a lot while idle.
Can you barely get 2-3 hors of SoT.
Full brightness kills it.

Normally it will last you about 2 years. 3 if you know how to properly charge it. 20-80%. Small charges every now and then.

i wanted to remove those apps like word power point and excel so i unlocked root. I started to delete everything and deleted google play services without noticing, now i can't use the google store or whatsapp, the only way to talk to my family

Also, i returned it to factory default settings to clean everything, but the internal storage keeps saying that i have 761mb on the "Other" folder, even though i deleted everything on this folder.

no, probably not, and the connectors might not match, so you may have to solder things on or remove them. also would probably have to modify the frame to make things fit.

>>61234900
Except it isn't because you'd need to develop custom firmware unless you're just going to use the specific parts from a specific phone

find your model number, find a stock rom on sammobile and use odin to flash it by plugging your phone when its on download mode (you can access that by powering off your phone and holding the power + home + volume down buttons and then pressing the vol up button once the warning appears). Then connect your phone to your PC via USB and it SHOULD appear in odin if you have the samsung drivers installed. Put the file you downloaded in the AP slot and hit execute. Restart the phone and voila

I'm just a note fanboy cause I like the large screen and pen so I bought a used one from a guy to replace my note 3 that I had when I was an AT&T customer. When I swapped to Cspire I didn't have the money for the S8 and I knew I wanted the note 5 so I got the cheap moto smartphone for 100 bucks, which lasted about a month before I tore it up, they don't make em like the used to..

Moto G 1st gen for nearly 4 years now. Best phone ever, dropped about 1 gazillion times and still working and the battery is doing fine. I want to change it because it charges slow, and i need to spend at least 5 min to get the charger connection properly adjusted.

I asked this question before but was given advice to buy Moto g5. Get outta here with that chink shit, looks like a complete turd and i respect myself too much to stain my hands with this abomination of a phone.

there already are mountains of untraceable burner phones, and no government or police needs an IMEI to access the smartphone botnet
it is possible to change it, and it's easy. it's just very illegal because it stops carriers from being able to blacklist people who don't pay their bills. compare it to engraving new serials on a gun.

Unless you're talking about this thing, your point is moot.
Every major OEM has durability and reliability issues. You can't use any LG device for more than a year or so before it starts to bootloop.

Chinese consumers aren't as large consumer whores as americans either, and typically use their phone for a longer period of time

HTC

Xiaomi will unlock any phone
1+ doesn't even lock their bootloader
Google will unlock any Nexus device

LG has a whole THREE American devices they'll unlock. To make it even worse, they'll only unlock the bootloader on ONE specific model (the network unlocked one) of the phones they do support.

Put tape / a sticker on it. Look, you're not going to find anything decent without a fingerprint scanner. Anything that doesn't have one is either a budget phone or super old.

Try the BlackBerry Android keyboard. It's quite good after you configure it to fit your needs.

Need new phone, I busted my LG G4 (shit phone btw)
Looking at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, looks good but will I get chink'd?
Also it should work fine in France but I need to be sure. Can I install LineageOS on it?
Any other recommendation?

Terrible

https://www.sammobile.com/2017/06/27/samsung-ui-fluidity-problem-needs-fixing

>Of all the current generation high-end phones that I have used (and I’ve used most of them), the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have the worst performance when it comes to scrolling and smoothness of UI. Even though the LG G6 and the Google Pixel have the previous-generation Snapdragon 821 processor, they fare better in this regard. Much cheaper phones from Xiaomi have a smoother UI as well.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/04/samsung-galaxy-s8-review-shiny-new-hardware-meets-old-software-habits/5/#h2

>Actual in-app performance on the Galaxy S8 is not great. The Google Pixel raised the bar for what smooth Android performance looks like, and the Galaxy S8 just can't keep up. In the above picture you see Android's built-in GPU profiler mode. Each vertical line is the time it takes to draw a single frame, with the horizontal green bar representing 60FPS. Bars under the green line rendered in time, resulting in smooth 60FPS scrolling. Bars that overshoot the line took too long to render, resulting in a stutter in the UI animation.

>Even in the lowest resolution possible—1480×720—the Galaxy S8 still drops a ton of frames when scrolling complicated apps like the Play Store. The highly optimized Google Pixel—at its full 2560×1440 resolution—is easily getting frames in on time. And even if things do slow down, there's a sizable amount of render time still.

>No matter what resolution you pick on the Galaxy S8, scrolling (especially scrolling slowly) has this weird stutter to it and a slight ghosting effect. Not everyone is sensitive to small performance issue like this, but if you are, you'll find the S8 a little unpleasant to use. I wish Samsung focused more on optimizing the whole display and GPU stack to hit 60FPS and run more smoothly, rather than adopting the raw benchmark focus the company seems to have now.

What do people think of the LG G5 SE, at £270 it seems a fairly good deal just to drop the CPU to a 625. Anything I'm missing?

Z5C is getting closer to $200 used on ebay. I don't really think the X Compact is much better for the price you pay but it does have USB C.
>>
>>61238530
I'm a little unsure about them though, I've heard bad things about customer support which I might just need with an LG phone.
>>
>>61238425
>stock android so no need for ROMs
There will always be a need for CM/LOS. It is what stock AOSP should be.
>>
>>61238470
I think you should stay the hell away from LG and use literally anything else. At this point I would even recommend iPhone over ANYTHING LG.
>>
Which one is the best out of the 3? Huawei P10, LG G6 and Google Pixel. I don't really care about the camera quality, just want some raw performance and a good battery life.
>>
My budget is $100-200. What phone has a good camera, removable battery, sd card slot, support for twrp and custom roms, is on android 5/6, and can run emulators at 30/60 fps without upscaling/higher res?
I'd buy an unlocked LG G4, but I don't want to deal with the bootloop issue.

How is the Redmi Note 4 in terms of build quality? Is there anything like it that's sturdier for the same price?

is that what y'all do?
I have like 30 subscriptions and 30 playlists.

I've had a Galaxy Note 2 for a long time and it survived several drops until it's death (where it dropped screen-first.) I don't want $150 to go to waste, would some casing help?
>>
What is the best chinkphone out there for ~$200? I could go less, and it would have to support US bands
>>
>>61239863
i had an N2 as well and the screen broke the first time it fell 12 inches because it landed on a corner. xiaomi ran over one of their phones with a car for a promotion and it still worked. there is no way to know whether it will survive a drop or not.
>would some casing help?
no. literally just don't drop the fucking phone. actually, i take it back. if you can get a case that has a retard strap on it so that it's basically impossible to drop it, it will help.
>>
I plan on getting a Moto Z2 Play with that battery case, or is there something better I could get around that price range? Battery life, longevity an storage are important, don't give a shit about cameras.
>>
>>61239946
Honestly anon the Moto Z 1 is so comfy without the case, you might be happier just getting a $29 Turbo Charger.

Wouldnt you rather spend 10 minutes plugged in than 8 hours with a fat phone?
>>
Guys I summon /spg/ to help me decide on what to buy.

I am looking for

>Near stock android experience ( no touchjizz)
>Great camera
>Durable
>Usb-C
> Ip67

So I know that Sony XZ premium is the way to go for most of these but I'm wondering if the HTC U11 has a better camera.

Price doesn't matter but xz is marginally more expensive. Is it worth the 100~200$ dollar difference?

Should I wait to buy a phone or scoop up one up now?
>>
>>61240497

the u11 has *the best* camera, so if that's your top priority then buy it.
>>
Why is the Redmi 4 Prime more than the Redmi Note 4? I would have expected it to be the other way around with the note 4 having a larger display.

Where could I find the best price for a Note 4 + a mi band 2?
